i was reading an interesting post elsewhere from a writer whom has a very similar writing style to one of our beloved posters. Anyway, apparently he is running an interesting experiment to catch some flies. Lo and behold i opened my Inbox to see a pic of a lovely blonde hottie age 26 who's location first reads from California writing me...here is what she says:

I from Russia from the city of Saratov.
I have many hobby one of which cooking.
I also love sports and I make a healthy way of life.
I do not drink, I do not smoke and I do not use drugs.
I want to find very good, clever person in a life who would be for me an ideal!
And with which I can construct the home life.
I was never married and I have no children.
I liked your structure. I would like to learn you better.
I would like to contact you further.
I feel that you the correct person.
If I have interested you and you really successful the man.
I leave the contacts.Write me to:

I am tempted to play along for giggles but it is probably a guy. You would think the scammers would attend some ESL courses

LOL!! I will stay clear. I am busy enough just keeping up with the daily flames let alone the online scammers. I did send an email yesterday to your man reminding him to tell the last gringo to turn off the lights due to the departure of that Brad fellow

First of all if this person is indeed from Saratov, as you can imagine she (or he) doesn't get much English practice.  I don't think the grammar of this e-mail is much worse than your grammar when you write in Spanish.  I have gotten several such e-mails myself, and it is a BS scam.  I guess it must work sometimes, just as the Nigerian scam asking your bank information.  Anyone who falls for these is just a retard.

Admittedly, my writing in Spanish is not as good as the nutjobs but I am not out to win a Pulitzer in a second language. Actually, my written Spanish is probably better than some of the English I've read on the forums.

I hate to butt into what appears to be a conversation between you and El Ruso, but who exactly are the "nutjobs"? Are you referring to anyone who thinks it advisable to speak the same language as a woman you may be intending to marry and her relatives and countrymen, or is it more specific than that? As you, yourself, pointed out, you have found it somewhat necessary to learn the language and I see that you have admirably attempted to foster a class here of sorts.

Doesn't that make you a nutjob also? Please explain the qualifications for being considered by you to be a "nutjob".

Poor Papi, he can't even copy and paste an obvious "translation software" email from a Russian scammer and get any respect on this forum.....Hey if the Amalgamated Taxi Drivers Assn of Costa Rica know about El Papi and raise his taxi fare 64%, almost EVERYONE knows!
