AFA...MORE INFO PLEASE
« on: January 01, 2007, 01:44:54 PM »
Hey gang...

I've asked this question before but can someone fill me in on AFA.  I was planning on going to Barranquilla in February with  this agency.

Any info is helpful.

You can read the harpers July article about their Kiev tours. You can read the boards here and on other sites about experiences.

I have nothing positive to say about them. . . . . read the medellinladies thread that one of their folk started up.

TXAK, my gut tells me to avoid AFA outside of maybe their FSU trips…but you might try it.  I think they list a price of $1200…not sure if that includes hotel.  Their website is loveme.com.  Frankly, I think there are some better options…a lot has been written in the archives including TLC, Latin-Wife and maybe BQ Best.  But hey, we need a guinea pig so let us know how it goes.  I can tell you about 25-30 women showed up at their CR tour which they are now quoting the same price…that being said, I think they do have a stronger presence in CTG/BQ than CR

Sure is nice to hear someone else advising another person to go spend their money as a guinea pig. Read the bogotajim posts. I think he has more knowledge of what you are talking about.

I thought my post was rather balanced and not biased.  If you will so kindly note, I wrote that it would be best to avoid AFA and I mentioned the other options in BQ.  Yet, I can’t say for certain that their BQ trip won’t deliver and the poster seems to have a serious interest in going…he now should be aware of the pitfalls:

1. at first glance it sounds pricey but I have not taken the time to study the tour details

2. They did not perform in CR – the same might happen in BQ and end up with a poor showing of females on the tour

You mention Jim. He is in the biz. I would not ask Ford what they think of GM

no, BQ Best is a separate agency. They are under new ownership and I am having trouble bringing up their new website: www.colombianlatinwomen.com.  here is their other site: www.barranquillasbest.com

They quoted me about $500 for 5 days but I know they will most likely deal if you walk into their offices with cash. Your other options are TLC and Latin Wife.

Let me know what you decide to do..good luck

TXAK,  in my very limited experience AFA was sucko.

My brief experience with AFA:

Prior to my visit I spoke and emailed with office in BAQ and inquired about 2 ladies. They said no problem the ladies are available.  When I went to their office in BAQ, neither of ladies was availble,  one was located elsewhere and the other was "Busy".  Both ladies remain on the website, as if they are still available and stationed in BAQ.   Based on this I think they are less than reputable and would think twice before attending one of their events.

Hey Padre, well, I don’t think we can judge them on 2 potential citas.  If we did that – then almost all agencies would fall under sucko category.  I give them a C grade in CR…I don’t know what their tour would be like in BQ but for my money would take a pass.  Yet, maybe they will surprise us

Yo Paps, my limited experience shouldn't be used individually but taken with the rest the posters comments to get an overall picure of AFA.  Maybe they were just having a bad day when I was there.  As I said in an earlier post, on another thread, they should at least take down ladies that are no longer living in the city.  They can't be singled out for that one, as practically every agency does that to some extent.

On a tour anything can happen, so if you got the cash, time, and feel like gambling why not go for it and have fun.

Father, we both know most agencies suck and are just a bunch of greedy bastards with the exception of a few class acts. For my money, I am focused on going online and bypassing them altogether. Still, if CC pumps up the database - i'd go back

AFA had an affair in Medellin about 6 weeks ago.  Their Sat. night party was held in a PUBLIC nightclub - Palmetas - located in Las Palmas - about 7 guys attended and about 20 plus ladies.  They were seated next to the general public - folks who paid a smaLL SERVICE CHARGE TO ENTER AND ENJOY THE MUSIC. Most of the AFA group was gone by 11 p.m.    This is the first time I have ever heard of an agency party being help in a public nightclub.

I don't doubt that having attended 2 of their parties in CR, yet I paid about $100-$150 as memory serves.  I would not be a happy camper had I paid over a grand. My advice to those wishing to use AFA would be to purchase emails and/or individual intros off them preferably visiting their offices rather than attend their tours until we can get a better handle on what they are offering in latin america. I trust their tours to FSU are far better. In the meantime, I may try to contact them and get an explanation of what is going on explaining that they are getting some press on the forums.

papi,

John and Ron (AFA owners), at least, are well aware of the 'press' they get here.

i wish then that they would come here and clear the air. We are being told that they are a BAD agency by their competitor and others. I have limited knowledge of their services. I visited their offices in CTG but did not try them out. I have attended a couple small parties in CR. I know they are a large operator but that is the extent of my knowledge. It would be good  to hear from them

Guys,

I attended the AFA tour in Cartagena in 2005.
It was a well organized, three night tour. Each night, 10 tables were set up with 8 ladies sitting at each table.
The guys would rotate to a different table every 20 minutes.
This format gave the guys an opportunity to talk to each of the 240 ladies on tour in a calm fashion.
I ended up dating 3 ladies after the tour. One the ladies, became my girlfriend.
The relationship ended after six months because I could not understand her Spanish.
I told her at 300 least times to speak slowly, use simple words , and speak louder .
I am conversational in Spanish but far from fluent.
I understood the other two ladies I dated perfectly and regret not keeping the door open with them.
The lady I chose was the most attractive, had long black hair all the way down to her cola and danced great.
The tour in Barranquilla has the same same format. I used the Barranquilla office to set up 4 citas but I did not have chemistry with any of the ladies.
In order to reduce the cost, you may want to see if you can pay $300 for one night and then make a decision if you want to pay for the rest of the tour.
Suerte...................

Cohiba007, for starters I am a fan of Cohibas and planning a trip soon to Panama to partake.  Secondly, glad to hear the tour was worth it.  $300 is not terrible if they have a very good turnout and not a high pooch factor.  On the Spanish thing, I hear you.  Some folks speak it beautifully and I understand almost everything while others mumble.  When I get a mumbler, I just relax and in a short time will get accustomed to them.  It also helps to sit face to face and talk like at a restaurant. But some are hopeless

Thank you Cohiba007....you gave specific, first hand information, explained why you made the decisions you made and gave a thumbnail sketch of the success/failure of each.

Also, you did NOT engage in any cheap shots that were NOT based on first hand facts, you were logical and specific in what you had to say.

Dan, thanks for your recent statements encouraging these kinds of posts. Hundreds, maybe thousands of guys checking out this forum may benefit from these **timely** reports.

I am giving an "appreciation" to Cohib007 for his excellent input.  Muchas gracias!

Thanks Daytrader,

I don't think it matters which agency you use.
I have made 15 trips to Colombia in three years.
I have three ex -novias and one current novia.
I have learned that what you will find in Colombia is a reflection of yourself.
Whatever is inside of you, will be looking back at you in Colombia.
If a guy is troubled, he will find nothing but problems there.
If a guy is  at peace with himself, he will find happiness.
If a guy has good mental health, he will find a good woman.
To paraphrase Yoda, (what you find in Colombia)" will be what you take with you."
