My wife's English is getting too good...
« on: October 23, 2016, 09:00:20 AM »
So we were driving through our neighborhood and my wife saw a sign that said "garage sale." She asked me incredulously, "why would anyone sell their garage? That's crazy to give up your parking space to someone else like that..." I explained to her what a garage sale actually means, and we had a good laugh about it....

My wife's English has come a million miles and then some, but early on it was to say the least, 'interesting.' She never was around much swearing growing up (although I think the term 'bullsh!t' must be universal) and has never taken kindly to it, although after eleven years here she occasionally lets a 'choice' cuss word out at the appropriate time.

But when I got mad at her and said something like " I am NOT going to have that, DAMMIT!" She got VERY offended and sternly told me: "I am NOT a dammit and don't you call me one!!!!"

I honestly don't know how you guys with mainly Spanish speaking wives can handle it. I'd have lost my patience, religion and tooth enamel a long time ago.

Aww, comeon.....I mean we live in a land where we drive on the parkway and park in the driveway. Besides, even if we had it right, almost nobody in our neighborhood parks their cars in the garage anyway.
