anybody go to the carnival in brazil?

will be in brazil in a week, just wondering if anybody is there for the carnival?

 I wanted to go, but I think I am going to time it so I get the benefits of off-season cost without paying in the baked in price increases that come with carnival.
 
 There are also less costly alternatives throughout South and Central America I have considered.
