Thinking of trying the Phillipines
« on: October 10, 2012, 07:44:48 PM »
I am burnt out on Colombia, thinking about changing things up and trying the Phillipines for a change. Started a FilipinoCupid account and am getting bombarded with girls.  Is FilipinoCupid actually a good way to meet women in the Phillipines? Seems like alot of you guys on the asian boards meet girls through a mutual friend or something, but I don't know anyone in the Phillipines.
I have noticed that the girls on the site look vastly different when they are all dolled up with make up and clothes from the photos of themselves candid at home. Makes me worry about girls with only one photo!
Some girls apear to have modeling type photos on their profiles. Is this normal or is it a sign of some kind of scam? ( I always tend to think scam or prostitute when I see a girl who has her pics taken in a photo shoot)
Marriage agencies are illegal in the Phillipines right? So how does AFA run tours there?
If I get to the Phillipines to meet one particular girl, and I find out the girl is not who she presented herself as, or we just have no chemistry, are there any tips on how to salvage my trip

Hi Q,

I have zero experience with Filipina Cupid and similar sites.

Personally, I would stay away from the girls with the professional glamour photos. It’s not the norm.

Yes, marriage introduction agencies are definitely illegal in the Philippines. How does AFA get away with it? Bribery, I suppose. They only operate in one or two cities, so they only have to bribe one or two key people.

If it doesn’t work out with one girl, you should at least have a couple of other contacts for a plan B. Just cold call them and tell them that you are in the neighborhood and would like to meet. It has worked for some guys.

Then there’s always an abundance of touristy things to do if you want to make a vacation out of it. Or Angeles City if you are into partying all night…  ;)

Stay away from gals with overly revealing photos. Most of the Filipinas I know would not wear a revealing bikini--they'd cover up with shorts and a T shirt even in the water or at most, a one piece suit at the beach/pool. Glamour shots are something I also tend to not care for and they're often done by agencies that distribute them to various international locales. Same goes for a gal with 4 or 5 profile pics in 4 or 5 different hotels--red flag. You can kind of look at the above signs as meaning a gal's got a lot of 'mileage' on her--she's been around a bit.

With 1000's of women on Filipina Cupid and Cherry Blossoms, if you are carerful, you'll find some great women in there, but note the word 'careful'. Don't under estimate looking at new members with priority--they may get swooped up fast. Beware of 'seperated' women in the Philippines--they'll almost certainly need an anulment that can take years, be very expensive and possibly even be denied after considerable time and expense. Children can complicate matters too, but don't have to be an exclusionary factor, I don't think.

Pics at work, with family, photos of women w/o a lot (if any) make up on are what I prefer. If she looks attractive w/o it and moves to your nation, where make up and lipstick is more the norm, imagine how pretty she'll look! Make up can disguise a lot. My Filipina wife still wears almost no make up, but now that she's well into her 30's she told me she wants to "always look good for you" and she's experimenting, even curling her hair a little and once in a while, even putting a wee amount of eye shadow on. She's always used clear lip gloss and that's important with air con. and home heating's low humidity. So after about seven years in the USA, she's changed some in that regard. I have to laugh sometimes at her ways about it though. I love her skin tone (her Kano friends say she always has the 'perfect' tan) and I also love her bright brown eyes 'as is'.

I think bright red, shiny lipstick is sexy as hell. She has some, but in the ten or so minutes before she puts it on and when we head out the door, she's dabbed it with tissue so many times--'toning it down' until you can barely see it! Of course you don't want to wear thick lipstick to bed, so I get to see it about 5 minutes each time!

But for a long, long time, people have advised "beware of painted ladies".

Oh well, I think she's prettiest when she's sound asleep, lying by my side--sometimes I just look at her in wonder. As time goes by, I think I appreciate her, as well as her beauty, more and more and feel like I really got blessed. And it's as much for the things she doesn't do, as well as for the great things she does do.

This can be interpreted in so many ways that it's almost like inviting argument, but the way I interpret it, she is in the best way--A simple, traditional Filipina--in that she's totally logical, practical, but sentimental and romantic, loyal and honest. She and her family are  from the country, but city educated and not unaware of city ways and life. They're well educated and value hard work, but aren't snobs to those who haven't had the opportunity to go to a university or 'get ahead' in life.

Even if you haven't taken enough time and find the girl you choose to visit isn't what you expected, I think you'll have a great time--great 'vacation' in the Philippines. In the meantime, save person's e mail addies in case you have to go 'solo'. The way I figure it, you can have one very 'special friend' to focus on and keep others as 'just friends'--no need to burn your bridges if you're not fully, formally attached. Maybe if you're a clean freak and germophobic--then you might not like it, but it seems like all the guys here come back with positive comments
Whether you think you can or think you can't--you're right!

Hello,
I tried Bebotsonly and met someone, the girls are younger but I think you will like it. You can
view the girls on Youtube under Bebotsonly channel. The best way go there and ask the owner
who you want to meet. He will even call you if you want. Not for everyone, but good to take
a look.

Good luck.

I checked the Web site and yes, the girls are young...VERY young! I hope he is checking to verify that they are over 18.

So did you actually go to the Philippines and meet someone thru this guy's service?

Yea--these are some real young girls. I'm pretty sure a good percentage of them honestly feel that marrying a guy 30+ years older than they are is perfectly fine-- if they really 'love each other', but be careful what you wish for!

What's weird is that while I feel a lot of these girls are honest and sincere at the time in their feeling that marrying someone much older is fine 'if they love each other'--for some weird reason, they often don't apply that mindset to men from their own country. Never could figure that out.

After they've had some seasoning of the type that only time (and perhaps a wealthier lifestyle) can bring, especially after they've been in a place like the USA for a while--they can 'grow up' to become very different persons and I don't just mean gaining 40 or 50 pounds--I mean personality wise. If they have relatively little formal education, the risks are higher.

Good that the agency checks them out, but if I were looking for a 'pretty young thing' the likes of which I see here, I'd for sure spend some time getting very aquainted with her family, friends and the surroundings she grew up in. Then you'd be better able to see how 'grounded' she is or isn't but it's a still a bigger gamble than if you end up with a gal who's 30 or so years old and up, IMO....
Whether you think you can or think you can't--you're right!

The filipina is cute, but seems disinterested in the interview/ and doesn't seem "into" this guy at all.  More into her sausage....  jejeje
But then again, they just met on his 1st rip to PI -  it seems....

also beware of ladyboys ;)

Anyway I have had experience with FilipinaCupid  (used to be called FillipinaHeart) and CherryBlossoms.

The disadvantages are:
 - further to travel to
 - No marriage agencies  (you meet one lady and if it doesn't work out....... Plan B?)
- Too many ladyboys  ;D
- Asking you for help 2 minutes after knowing her!
- more difficult to fly into, if she lives in remote area.   Even if she lives in a city, you might need to change at Manila
- Good ladies are usually very reserved
- Many girls prefer to marry great, great grandfather
- when on webcam, they chat to many at the same time.  They claimed that they chatted to 'brother' ' auntie'  'cousin'
-  Many aren't very good at making conversations

But there are many advantages though.... ask these men who have married them.   It shows it is not impossible to find one.

What about Russian / Ukrainian?  Too cold?

Just watching the way that girl chewed the sausage turned me off. I have seen girls from the provinces who never got out of high school, who probably had never used a fork in their lives. We've 'brought them into town' to a nice restuarant and they had great manners--their parents taught them how to act on such an occasion. To be honest, at home, they most likely ate more with their hands and didn't even use napkins--they don't need them.

Over there, a lot of folks use spoons for everything, save perhaps the occasional all purpose, farm friendly bolo knife. (made from an old jeepney leaf spring. Yet they'd know what a salad fork or butter knife was for.

That chick looked like she was chewing 5 pieces of double bubble or bazooka chewing gum. Her family never taught her differently.

My wife's from the provinces too and until I met her, she had never eaten in a fine French restaurant. Still  she really made me look like a heathen in comparison. You don't have to be middle class to know not to chew a mile a minute with your mouth open, or when to keep your legs closed---how to sit like a lady.

Thanks, Whitey--yes the girl in the video is pretty--hopefully she'll polish up well. My wife laments 'Why can't I be a HOTTIE like those women'? Sometimes I encourage her to go with a a bit of colored makeup or some red, colored, 'wet' looking lipstick, but before she's gotten out of the house, she's dabbed her self with kleenex several times to 'tone down' her appearance--she prefers clear or a little pinkish lip gloss, clear or subtle nail polish. She looks 'hot' to me when she wakes up every morning, totally natural.

She gets a lot of compliments from people from all walks of life at her job on how she's pretty, sometimes they say 'cute', her co workers comment on how when she's not looking, the young bucks stare at her, but it all just seems to reinforce her feeling that she's not 'hot'.
When she worked in the school, middle school girls and staff alike would say things like 'The way she looks and dresses rocks' (The kids) and 'She dresses so well and tastefully'.(staff)

She's got a strong sense of self esteem but she's humble, yet if I really push her in bad way, she'll tell me--'You know how lucky you are?--Haven't I always been good to YOU?? I suppose I'm just a lucky guy that she's not all 'full of herself' like a lot of pretty women are, but she's no dummy, for sure.

The old Sammy Kershaw country music song's lyrics below kind of sum it up and to no surprise, they LOVE this song in the Philippines, as it fits a lot of Filipinas. Below it, there's a clip some karoke crazy  Filipinos created--they thought it was Kenny Chesney--but it's the orginal Sammy Kershaw singing--Don't think Chesney covered it--Alan Jackson did though...

We go out to a party somewhere
The moment we walk in the door
People stop and everybody stares
She don't know what they're staring for

She don't know she's beautiful (never crossed her mind)
She don't know she's beautiful (no she's not that kind)
She don't know she's beautiful
Though time and time I've told her so

There she goes just walking down the street
And someone lets a whistle out
A girl like her she just can't see
What the fuss is all about

And she don't know she's beautiful (never crossed her mind)
She don't know she's beautiful (no she's not that kind)
She don't know she's beautiful
Though time and time I've told her so

Hi Q,
There's no real plan of finding a woman in the Philippines. Because no plan
has a guarantee.  Chat all you want, generally the first foreigner that arrives
at a Pinay's doorstep, is the man that they possibly marry. What I would
do is take a trip to the Philippines, see if the country fits your lifestyle.
There's are a lot of ways of meeting Filipina's,  social media web sites,
church, good old USA,. walking thorough the major malls in the
Philippines, the ladies will hit on you. what I am saying u don't need paid
money for some ladies e-mail address. There's plenty of free  e-mail addresses and
phone numbers of ladies on Philippine's craigslist if that's your cup of tea.

Happily  married  to a Filipina  for 30+ years
