Latin American Cupid: Scam or Not?
« on: April 26, 2012, 11:48:14 PM »
I know some guys have met their wives through sites like LAC and Colombian Cupid.

Here are my concerns:
1. Are There Ringers on the Latin American Cupid website?  Example: I signed up for a 30-day membership recently.  My membership expired on day 31.  The very day after it expired some lady I had exchanged a few e-mails with sends me an e-mail.  It was her first reply after 10-days of no reply. The way LAC is set up you can see which lady sent you an e-mail but if your membership is no longer active you can NOT access the e-mail.  Like a curious idiot I figured what is another 30-days (and $30 bucks) going to hurt. Let's see what this lady has to say.  Her e-mail to me:  "Heeyyy" .  That is it....looks like it COULD HAVE BEEN just a ruse to get me to renew my membership.??

2. Web Cam Scammers?  I've been exchanging daily e-mails (through LAC's system) with this girl in Venezuela for about 10 days to 2 weeks.  Now we are ready to move on to chat via webcam (my suggestion to her).  She is all for it.   She appears to have a legit profile but something just doesn't add up for me.  No requests for money or anything like that. Some of her e-mails seem a bit short.  I guess I will find out when we chat.  My question is: do scammers actually put this much effort into it?  Play along for a few weeks before hitting you up via web cam?   Is the scammer's goal to hack my personal computer or just ask for money??

They don't care what's in your computer, just what's in your wallet.

We had one guy on the Asian side who got scammed after being set up for about 5 months in an elaborate scheme. I don't know if those "ladies" in Venezuela have that much patience.

Prince Hector

You need to realise that it is very cheap to use the LAC and CC, and therefore it is more risky.  You can eliminate scammers/ gold diggers and work your way through.

There are many sort of scammers, including webcam prostitutes are on that site, but also many genuine women looking for their love.

Good luck

i know in colombian cupid there is a very good chance there are. i have seem  some really hot girls on there for about a month, then off for 2 , then back on for a month. two friends were both contacted by the same hot girl, when they paid, wallahhhh, she wouldnt answer their messages and then was gone again, and then re-appeared  one month later. just too fishy.

Yep, sounds familiar and sounds about right.
