Celebrity Gossip
« on: December 27, 2011, 08:13:43 AM »
Does anyone know who Camila Alves is?  She is a Brazilian model, aged 28, and mother of 2 children.  Is she a celebrity?  No.  The father of her children is Matthew McConaughey.  HE is a celebrity!

The gossip is that he proposed to her on Christmas.  So we have a pretty famous guy marrying a Latina from Brazil.  I hope this catches on!

I guess she is a celebrity here... She used to be a Victoria's Secret angel. (Or maybe not...)

Nope she isn't one of the Victoria Secret model.
She was the host of a fashion reality show last season on the Bravo network.

You're right, thekfc. And the that show doesn't even air here...

Maybe I was confusing her with Adriana Lima. Other Brazilian angels are Alessandra Ambrosio and, of course, Gisele Bundchen. In fact, the list is big, including a girl from my city. :)

Yep, the list is very big with about 30 or so Brazilian angels. Ana Beatris Barros, Ana Hickman, Izabel Goulart along with the one you mentioned being the more recognize faces/names here.

If there are that many well-known, gorgeous Brasilieras around, why are so many American men fixated on Colombianas?  (At least on this forum.)

Because it's cheaper to go there and Spanish is much more useful than Portuguese, they say.

But we could start listing some advantages for Brazil:
- Brazilians can get tourist and student visas more easily, so no need for fiance visas just to visit.
- It's more diverse lookswise.
- The economy is better.
- It's safer. (?)

What else?

What else?

- FAR more and FAR nicer beaches than in Colombia.
- From a man's perspective:  my experience has been that Brasilieras, more than Colombiansas, view sex as something to enjoy with their man to keep both in the relationship, as opposed to something to provide to their man to keep him in the relationship.

I thank my lucky stars that Leonardo De Caprio likes those long, tall and lovely Brazillian girls also. My wife has a crush on one movie star--it's Leo! She (seriously) even asked me that if De Caprio ever asked for her hand, if I would make that one, single exception and let her run off with him--and that with all his millions of dollars, that he would surely try to compensate me with at least a few million dollars for my terrible loss!!

Sorry boys, she's priceless......

Didn't Matt Damon marry a gal from S. America too? His buddy Ben Affleck, almost married that Latino bombshell, Jennifer Lopez too! They built a lovely house not too far from us (MUCH higher rent area though) for the two of them, but chose a different wife--Jennifer Garner and moved in. Nice, folks, I hear--we eat at the same BBQ joint, but haven't run into each other yet.

Wouldn't you know it--if you put Nicholas Cage in that bunch of guys, he's the last one I'd want as a neighbor--and HE married an Asian gal the last time around!
Whether you think you can or think you can't--you're right!

Brazilliangirl,

But how sweet---how unusual that a woman would admit--basically 'confess'  to her husband, that she finds someone--thankfully a movie star, that attractive to her?

She doesn't tease and it's really an innocent fantasy.

I think it's sweet and perhaps an interesting twist on the whole "Catholic Guilt' thing--which from the Philippines (I think most cultures have a different twist on the 'Catholic Guilt' deal), is and interesting phenomenon in its own right. 'Catholic Guilt' in the Philippines is rather paradoxical in many cases.

Anyways--I don't see what the fuss about Leo is either--he certainly doesn't look like some kind of rugged tough guy, isn't your typical 'leading man' handsome and instead of being a hair under 6 feet tall--he looks closer to five feet tall to me. Maybe his eyes are a little bluer than mine and the quizzical look he often portrays in his eyes appeals to her-- but they're basically the same color eyes as mine. He does seem like a 'sensitive' kinda guy usually, where I sometimes forget to notice things like earthquakes. (I actually did sleep through one a while back!)

On the other hand, he's sort of skinny (usually) with a long neck, where as I'm broad chested and my head starts about where my chest stops!

All the same, I'm sure it's just a matter of time before he's in a film they shoot in our picturesque city. When that time comes, just to be safe---we're going back to Disney World!

I would definately go to Brazil to go wife hunting except:
(a) I have a girl friend
(b) It has taken me a long time to reach the level of Spanish I have now and I still have a long way to go before I'm fluent. The whole concept of learning Portugese well enough for a relationship is a significant barrier.

As far as costs go. If there was a way to keep accomodation costs down then I think this could be overcome.

I certainly would love to visit Brazil purely for tourist reasons anyway. Also I am more likely to get a job there  than Colombia.

V,

That's why I chose the Philippines (Also I think Asian women are more attractive and make better wives).

There's also the fact that you guys need a visa to come here. Even though it's an easy process, many people shake in fear just by hearing the word visa.

But think about it... You have to be brave to ask Americans and Australians for a visa in reciprocity. :P

Asian women are more attractive

Do you really think Filipinas are more attractive than Brazilians in general?? Really??

There's also the fact that you guys need a visa to come here.

As far as I know Australian passport holders do need a tourist visa but the process is simple.
I travel on another passport and I don't need a tourist visa for Brazil.

Keep in mind that Australian women are beautiful. New Zealand women are easy. The ladies of South East Asia are close and plentiful. Pinays in particular have a reputation for being faithful. So you need more than beauty to get the men to travel all that way for a wife.

On the other hand I never met a Brazilian woman in Australia that was not educated, sexy, warm and sociable. So they have a good profile here.

As an aside many Australian women like well educated Brazilian men as well.

I think the lack of wife hunters and tourism in general comes down to mostly the language barrier.

Brazil is great, and I thought about it because the women are super hot, but if I was going to learn a third language, I wanted it to be spanish because I felt that it would be more useful.

Frankly, I'm not so sure about the language thing anymore. Brazil's got the best economy in SA and if you restrict the definition of usefulness to being useful in business, then Brazil wins, in my opinion. Spanish is much more prevalent in the US, but it's not the language of business so it's a bit irrelevant, in a way.

Plus all the guys here rave about Colombian women and that was an influence as well. It was really the language that pushed me to Colombia/spanish. I felt learning spanish would give me more options. That said, within Brazil, given the size of the population, there are tons and tons of options.

Aside from the 'language barrier' I'd probably face to some degree, the cost of getting there and cost of living there being higher than most foreign places, (at least with our dud of a US dollar) Brazil sounds like an absolute smash of a place to visit.

Besides gorgeous women and legendary sensuality, they have world class--really cutting edge, science and technology. Brains and beauty--what a mix!

Then they have a rich history of diverse people, cosmopolitan, bustling metro areas with great night life, great beaches, tremendous rivers, rain forests, eco tourism and lots more.

I think if I went for a month or two, the only thing I'd end up being short on (besides cash), is sleep!

Paris can wait!
Whether you think you can or think you can't--you're right!

I agree with Jeff S--while there are a WHOLE lot of  different ethnic looks in the Philippines--from Spaniard looking people with skin as fair as whole milk, to the orginal Negrito people, now mainly in isolated mountain areas, short, with slight builds, with very dark complexions and distinct African facial features,  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negrito , however I don't recall seeing a Filipino 'native' looking as the woman pictured above does in the Philippines--from the top to the bottom of the archipelago.

She definitely has (to me anyway) a S. and/or C. American -- Spanish--Indian mix of a look, although I'm no expert on the subject of South and Central American physical characteristics.
