Can Anyone Recommend Simple Accomodations in Bogota?
« on: September 19, 2011, 08:16:56 PM »
Hi All,

My girl and I need to spend a few days in Bogota for our Embassy interview.  :)

Need a simple hotel to stay at.  Not one of those overpriced places that caters to Americans; just  clean, cozy, four walls, a bed, a bathroom, and a tv

Any recommendations?  I'd like to spend about the equivalent of $60 a night, or less if possible.

Thanks in advance.

Also, if you're going to come and hijack the thread into something else, please don't bother.

I stayed at http://www.apartmentsinbogota.com/ few times.   It is not very expensive nor fleabag prices.

It is okay for very few nights stay.  The Interior Design isn't very appealing, but at least they have hot water, good bed, TV, fridge.   Breakfast is included.    Near to Modelia's shopping mall.

The address is: Calle 23 # 81 D 25, Barrio Modelia

Hmm.  i couldnt make sense of that sight.  seems to be a clearing house for apartment rentals, but no links to actual apartments that I could find.

thank you though

the other links are little fancier than what my tastes are right now  :P

Osa...

To be very near the American Embassy,

http://hotelroyaltysuite.com/

A room for 2 with brekfast and taxes should be no more then 100,00 pesos or right at 60 bucks....That s a negotated price, after dickering ...I ve stayed there quite a few times....Its about 4 blocks from the Amerrcan Embasy.

The neighborhood is called  Barrio Quinta Paredes, its chock full of hotels. If you want even cheaper but cozy and clean.....

http://www.ciudadbogotahotel.com/

Their online price is 121,00 at current prices about 73.00  for a standard double  one or two beds for one night, taxes and breakfast.

It is a small hotel and the photos show the hotel to be more elegant then it actually is.........but its clean...again dont be afraid to dicker, you can do better then the on line price, I ve been in a double standard room  there for 70,000 pesos, call it  42.00 USD without  breakfast. Hotel Ciudad Bogota about 6 blocks from the American Embasy

Wherevber you go in Quinta Paredes, ask for prices with and without breakfast....There are two large bakery restaurants very close to both hotels, named Los Hornitos and Vasconia with excellent breakfast menus....

Someone suggested the Park Embassy, whcih is on Avenida Espersanza a  block from the Ciudad Bogota its ridiculously pricey...but try the restaurant bistro in the back of the first floor there,.

its very good chow and reasonbably priced.....it was one of my favorite places to take a woman out.....I hat least 60 meals there alone and with dates...........I think your girl wil be suitably impressed

Whatever you do, don t stay in a hotel ON Avenida Esperanza. Esperanza is the main drag through Quinta Paredes....they are the most expensive hotels in the neighborhood.

The two hotels s I suggested are 1 and 2 blocks OFF Esperanza.

If you need any more suggestions let me know....

OK?

Looks like good information Dennis, I´m jotting it down for the next time I want to go up to Bogotá and be near the embassy. The place I stayed some years back seems to have closed.

yes, thanks Dennis.

I'm currently looking at this apartment for rent two blocks from the embassy, which came recommended by two people on VJ.

http://welovebogota.com/room-rates-usd-per-night.html

its just one room in an apartment; the vj people who have used it say that usually they have the whole apartment to themselves through (no other people staying in the other two rooms).

I'm dialoguing with the owner via email now, but I'm keeping my options open, though I do want to make a reservation by thursday/friday

hotel ciudad bogota wouldnt budge below $63 a night, so I had to pass.  actually, I wasn't so much speaking to the hotel, as much as some management/reservation company in spain.

Hotel Ciudad Bogota
Calle 22B No 44A-69. Tel 2694559-2683699
Email: convetur@empresario.com.co

BTW, the place got a really bad review on Tripadvisor, but there was only one review there.  Looks definitely downmarket in my opinion but if that's your budget, pues, try it.  Good luck.

Try this hotel.  It is not fancy, but got a LOT of good reviews on Tripadvisor and appears to be in your price range.  It is also near Transmilenio so you could easily and quickly get to anything in the city.
