How they cross the border
« on: July 23, 2011, 10:32:51 PM »
We finally got the Visa for my wife and she'll be coming soon from Peru.  An acquaintance of hers began her own journey to the USA back in August, but she has been doing it without a Visa.  The divorced mother traveled with her young son, about 8 years old by bus through Central America and into Mexico.  She then paid an American couple to put the child in their car and claim the child as their own when they cross.  The kid is now in New York with his aunt, and my wife says that the mother is still contemplating her own means of crossing.

Well NC, that is an interesting way to beat the system.

To curtail this we need to:

1.  Have extremely severe penalties for 'coyotes' like that couple that sneaked the kid in.
2.  Have real workplace enforcement so people truly can't work here if they are not here legally.  the penalties need to be severe.
3.  NO entitlements for children of illegals or illegals themselves.

Thanks for relying that story.  Maybe I should get in the business of bringing illegal children in through the San Diego checkpoints.  Maybe I can earn 5-10k every few days.  We can have a lot of fun with that money.

NC congrats on your wife's visa and about her friend, this lady sounds like a lot of people out there that have nothing to lose so they decide the risk is worth it, they obviously want to be in the states badly enough to take such risk, which is a much bigger than the one a card shark would take.

There is so many ways to get in the states the wrong way, how about you give your wife's friend some ideas get there the "right" way?

P.S. if she decides to do it the wrong way, please remind her to say she is mexican, like most latinos do, that way she will be deported to Mexico, not all the way back to her country and she can gives us an even worse fame  ::)

There's a funny sequence in the movie "El Norte" where the Guatemalan guy has to pretend that he's Mexican. How does he do it? By swearing a lot. I must admit, most Mexicans can easily outswear a Colombian.

That's true UC.When I learned many of the Spanish cuss words I remember being shocked at how many children used them in Mexico. They also have an assortment of hand gestures equivalent to giving someone the finger.I learned them all in Mexico from taxi drivers.I hate to admit it but it was kinda nice having more options than just the middle finger while in traffic!! :D ;)

If there was a World Cup for swearing the Mexicans would have a lock on it. It's a skill I rather admire actually.
