I just received an email from Dan. I rarely post here; partly due to the last time I posted, while on a visit from Medellin, I was accused, out of the blue, by someone named ColombiaExpert, of having relations with prostitutes.
In fact, to be clear. I was labelled a "monger". Since a monger is a seller of (anything); I must confess, I used to sell clothes. So, yes I was a 'fashion monger'. Whatever. ColombiaExpert's point was clear, nonetheless.
I neither have any idea who this person is, nor do I care.
Now, Dan's email consisted of links to this forum's terms of service. This is an amusing read, which consists of the following tidbits:
"You shall not post any message containing or otherwise use any obscene or offensive language or post anywhere else on or through the International Relations or affiliate site and services any material that is an invitation to fast money making schemes, defamatory, pornographic, racial, abusive or hateful, constitutes junk mail or unauthorized advertising, harassment, invades anyone's privacy, or encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability, or otherwise violate any local, state, national, or international law or regulation. You agree to use the services offered by International Relations only for lawful purposes.
You agree to refrain from posting anything which contains any ethnic, racial, religious, or political commentary - especially those comments which may be interpreted by others as being offensive or insulting."
I never agreed to any such assinine constraints when I began posting on this site (under Patrick then Hoda's moderation). I do not agree to it now.
I *might* agree to it under certain circumstances, but this website has already let me down....that is allowing ColombiaExpert to offend me, slander me, and accuse me of an act that is a crime in Englewood, Colorado. According to Dan's catch-22 rules, I have no recourse, since by making this post I hold this site blameless.
I never agreed to these arbitrary, draconian rules. I likely never would. You had better kick ColombiaExpert to the curb.
Since I do not agree to these terms of service, please remove my profile and all of my previous posts. It is preferable to me that I never existed here. If and when the day arrives that you apply your protective terms of service to your members as well as yourself, you might actually have something. Until then, it is apparent that with your terms, you are clearly only looking out for yourself, while letting members like ColombiaExpert injure me.
