On the radio here they replayed some interviews of people attending a Mitt Romney rally yesterday. OMG I don't know if those people have the cognative powers to tie a shoe lace. When I think that these are the people voting for the resident of the only world super power. Scary!

I'll pick one the more eloquent, high brow examples. She said people should vote for Romney because she feels that she is not safe to even walk down the street any more. When asked why she did not feel safe, she said it was because of all these Buddhists that they let into the country. She said that Obama was a Muslim, atheist, communist but Romney was an anti-abortion Christian and all these Buddhists made her feel unsafe. The interviewer tried to clarify all of this and make sure she wasn't simply getting her words mixed up but she just dug a deeper and deeper hole.

At least she was coherent (apart from the atheist, Muslim thing). The other examples were a lot worse.

During my lifetime I've discovered that by and large most people are idiots. I'm serious about that too. Even those we consider highly intelligent because they excel at taking standardized test or invent something new usually lack common sense, "street smarts," or social skills.

Why the f**k does she need to vote for let alone finding where Obama is?!!!  Obviously she doesn't understand politics let alone doing the vote!

Sometimes it's the blind leading the blind. One older Asian lady we know asked the poll worker for help figuring out the voting machine. The paid election worker proceeded to push the button voting for Romney, but the Asian lady wanted Obama. She was pissed off and got it straightened out, but you have to wonder how much of that goes on.

Some states, such as Florida, (with a Republican Governor) considerably shortened the early (pre election day) voting days, which apparently favored the Republicans. I find it very hard to believe, but it was reported that 23% of African American males in Florida are convicted felons who can't vote--if they were able to vote--between them and the Hispanic vote, the Democrats would have taken Florida in a landslide, instead of barely winning Florida, which pretty much assured victory for Obama.

Not just in Florida, which everyone pretty much agrees was stolen and got George Bush elected (when he ran against Al Gore), but across the nation, little tricks and deeds were attempted to give this or that party and/or candidate advantage. They redrew the voting lines where I live to try and oust a Democrat congressman, by putting his district in a much more Republican dominant area, but he had so much money in his 'war chest' and slick ads on TV, he won anyway---oh  games they all play!

I don't like to talk politics generally, here or abroad, but a lot of time Filipinos will say to me how ashamed they are of the political corruption and how money buys influence over there. Without trying to continuing the conversation too long, I tell them how it's much the same in the USA, but somewhat different in that a lot of the money buying--the lobbyists and influence peddling, the endless media barrage etc., is actually legal and that while unlike the Philippines, where they'll pay people to vote at the polls, it's not quite as direct as that, but that it's the same in that money and connections does tend to win elections here as well.
Whether you think you can or think you can't--you're right!

Um, no.  Not everyone agrees.  From my perspective, the SCOTUS stopped the Dems from trying to steal the election.  Here's how it went down:
Bush beat Gore in Florida by a narrow margin.  Gore demands a recount.  (Democrat) County polling officials start to recount and discover, lo and behold, more votes for Gore!  Enough to beat Bush?  Nope.  So recount again.  And lo and behold, still more votes for Gore!  Enough to beat Bush?  Not yet.  So recount again.  And so it went until the SCOTUS steps in to put a stop to their shenanigans.
