What would you do?
« on: March 08, 2011, 10:16:58 PM »
Well ok say you have decided you are going to Colombia. You have chosen a city like Barranquilla. you dont want to use an agency.

What would be a good plan in this case to meet ladies there? anyone can give a brief idea of what you have done or would do?

What I did:
Got on LatinAmericanCupid five weeks before my trip, met a girl, we hit it off.
Visited her for two months, turned south towards the end after I really go to know her and understood more about her.

What I would do if I was going to BAQ again and on a short schedule(Under two weeks):
Jamie's agency.

If you don't know the area and don't speak Spanish you'll probably end up spending alot of time just trying to get around and learn the place. Better off to use an agency. If that doesn't work out for you at least you have some experience there and can have a better plan next trip.

You never really said what it was you got to know about her that turned you from giddy to dumping her.  I know it wasn't the permission to cheat.

if you only have a short amount of time the agency route is the way to go. if you are going for a month or more then freelance... keep in mind if you freelance you will need to speak some Spanish enough to get around and understand what you are being told and what you are asking for.

Best of luck to you

You never really said what it was you got to know about her that turned you from giddy to dumping her.  I know it wasn't the permission to cheat.

It was a culmination of events and realizations. She became extremely codependent, needy, and was an emotional black hole. If you have seen the movie Tangled, the scene where the chick goes happy to depressed and back, that was pretty much her for my last week or so. As more things came to light about her father the more I realized how emotionally damaged she was. Combine that with her "thinking" (The Colombian blank stare that makes you want to knock on their head and ask if someone is home) all the time on any matter even remotely thought provoking and the one event that should have made me realize right then and there it was over (our jet-ski experience).

I'm not sure if I told you guys about that one or not. But the jetski had a leak/missing bilge plug. We were half way between Boca Grande and the closest island. We had stopped for about five minutes and when we went to get back on the jetski it had filled with enough water that it would no longer maintain upright with us on it. The jetski was slowly sinking. After a few failed attempts at quickly jumping on and going and running the bilge pump, I had to finally give up when the engine would no longer start. I stayed calm, I told her what to do, reassured her, and was exercising the correct water survival techniques. Stay with the jetski, do not even think of trying to swim for shore, you dont know the currents and you are not very visible on the water. Stay with the watercraft, it is highly visible, even if the back half of it is under water, it still sticks out a good two feet and will be visible from a distance. We were 45 minutes into a 1 hour rental, so I knew they would come looking for their jetski soon. She freaked out and tried to swim to shore, ignoring me...

She was a good (well intentioned) kid, but in the end that is exactly what she was. A kid.

Well i wont go jet skiing there :)

What I am trying to find is:

a colombiana who has a decent family that tries to teach her right (i really dont want a barfly nor do i want a girl who never leaves her room). She needs to like as much to be at home as out doing something (aka ill dance with her she but she goes with me on my adventures), likes to maintain a good home life (with kids eventually). She will need to be INTERESTED in education aka even if she cant afford it be somewhat a goal in life to better herself.

I will not ever be a guy who gives money willy nilly to a girl down there so ill know right away if she is a gold digger. if and when i marry a lady in the future once she has proven her dedication and committment over time then ill shower her but not until i see she is a good person and loyal.

Woody i think mentioned one of his top choices said something about he could have mistresses? well that wouldnt fly with me.... if a girl mentiones that right away i would pretty much end it because im not interested in that. its a RED FLAG .... youll wind up being a SWINGER relationship which is not what i want.

I just want a good old fashioned MAN/WOMAN comitted relationship.

believe it or not its so hard to have that with modern american women--their becoming like SNOOKI or Linday lohan.

Woody, good call on that one. The chick was like the jet ski in that she was missing something also and would probably have left you stranded as well!

Wow Woody, never heard that story before.
Sorry to hear that one didn't work out, but sounds like it was for the best.

Woods,

Showed a total lack of faith in your leadership.

Sadly, she could have died that day!

You did right to dump her.

So do I dare asked what happened after she freaked out and tried to swim to shore all the while ignoring you at the same time?

I swam after her and dragged her back to the jetski.

I understand your situation.  I was ignored in the past by similar reasons as you - in another matter.    When I was in Kiev with my ex-girlfriend (hard of hearing), we stayed in an apartment.  She heard the door knocking at midnight, I told her not to answer the door, because it might be a total stranger and both of us did not know the area  (she is from Uzbekistan), and she was wearing bathrobe - after taking shower.   They cannot see the light tinside the house.   She chose to ignore me and answered the door.  It turned out to be the man in for money for rent.  At midnight!!  A man who gave us the key to the apartment earlier said that he would come in the morning, but came at midnight instead.   We weren't expecting him!!

It could have been anybody!

You could meet a woman at the airport, a cashier at a shopping center, a worker in your hotel, or at a local restaurant.

i liked bowling...at least partially because i like to see these latinas move...it is also a fun thing to do and it is a pretty 'safe' activity...not all ladies will go for this though because it does require no false fingernails!  i also liked to meet a woman for food...in Cali i took a woman to the waterpark...she couldn't swim and held on to me for dear life which was awful nice...
