friend sent me a text message tonight,  lot of rain in Medellin, some parts of poblado flooded and the main road form the Int airport to Medellin had a mudslide again, so the road is closed for 4 days or more, so make plans for going an alternate  route to get into medellin.

Fly into some other Colombian city and take a domestic flight to Medellin's city airport, Olaya Herrera.

i heard from my friends in Medellin last night, that the rain is so bad now,  the city is a mess, and getting to and from the airport is a complete disaster, if not impossible.

That really sucks!

I just arrived in Barranquilla last night.  Luckily it was only sprinkling and I had no problems getting here from the airport in Cartagena.

It's been raining all day here in BAQ, though.  There is no storm sewer system, so the streets are running heavily with water (arroyos) and it's very hard to get around.  Everything is dry here in the house as the curbs are really high, but a neighbour was telling me that in some barrios the homes are flooded with several feet of water and that the people have to sleep suspended close to the ceiling in their hamacas.

He also told me he killed 8 rats in his apartment today ... guess I won't be stopping by for dinner.  ;-)

I've been stuck inside all day and hoping the rain stops soon so I can at least walk to Exito and load up on some provisions!

that sucks,  i remember when i was in BQ, and it was raining really hard for about 40 minutes, the street were a river and the whole city stopped working.......

but, that's still better than Medellin, where some houses have slid down the hill killing people and many  mudslides.

Apart from B/quilla, Bogotá and Cali are there supposed to be other destinations on this list that recieve flights from the US? Not likely unless some company is flying Twin Engined Otters down here.

I was shocked to see in Barranquilla that people just throw their trash in the street and wait for a rainstorm to wash it away. Then again maybe I shouldn´t have been since that´s the only place in Colombia I´ve ever gotten nailed by the Giardia parasite.

Wow! I'd sure hate to live at the bottom of the hill!  Bleahhh!
Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash and I'm delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever.

They may not receive flights directly from the US but some of them can be reached from Panama City.

Aww man, that's gross.  OK, so much for brushing my teeth with the tap water.

I used to get a fever and diarrhea on every trip, but we finally figured out that it was that tap water mixed with the juices prepared for lunch at Nazly's house.  She told her mom to start using bottled water when I come over, and I haven't had a problem since ...
