Computer problems...,z,x,c,v,q,w,e,r, and enter stopped working! Copy and pasting...finally had to switch computers to make corrections.

English walnut is nice...but, I prefer Peruvian walnut myself (in/on an English car).  Brilliant! Top-drawer!

For my furniture...Philippine narra (Rosewood). http://www.stuartxchange.org/Narra.html  I heard that it is also good for heath. http://www.newsflash.org/2003/05/si/si001568.htm

It is the national tree of the Philippines, as well as the provincial tree of Chonburi and Phuket in Thailand (Burmese Rosewood - mai doo).

That Narra is really nice wood, very pretty and heavy duty. My wife's parents home  has a lot of it and they've promised when we're ready to build in the Davao City area, they'll make sure we get plenty of it it from their area and they'll hook us up with craftsmen who won't burn us, although I have a suspicion I'd better hide my white ass, or the quality of workmanship might go down, and the price might go way up.

What'd be best is if her dad could stay there during the building time (they have relatives and three kids in school in Davao City) and watch it as it goes up--if any of us live long enough--things seem to go at a rather slow pace there. Finding a decent sized lot in Davao city, especially in a safe or gated area is a difficult and by many standards, an expensive proposition. Her parent's place, out in the province, is so spacious--the main room is like a ball room and the lush, green surroundings, far from any other houses, make it like paradise. But the downside is they're 20 minutes drive from any real stores...
Unless you have major, major money--it'd be near impossible to have a place like that in any metro area in Davao or on Bohol. "When in Rome......."

But we'll definitely go with a lot of Narra wood and hopefully, someday we'll do the same kind of house on Bohol.

it's funny how a lot of wealthy USA homes are spending tons of $$$ on highly finished bamboo flooring and they're making many different types of 'chic' products out of bamboo for sale in upscale USA stores.

In Asia of course, bamboo has been used for thousands of years for thousands of purposes and is as low end as you can get, this side of banana leaves and palm fronds.

I live near an agricultural govt center and they have 100's of varieties of bamboo that grow like wildfire, so the American public is definitely being taken for a ride. Of course we have long had Florida mangos in USA stores, but even here in Georgia, they're getting closer to developing a frost resistant strain of banana trees that will bear fruit--hopefully enough to sell commercially.

Scientists have already found ways to insert a gene from the Arctic cod fish--a gene that keeps the fish from freezing itself while swimming up along icebergs, etc and they have inserted it into some tomato plants and regrown seeds form those plant and the tomato,s also resist frost, but I don't care for them 'playing' with the genetics of our food too much...

Oh--Dave--see about them 'commissioning' me a Bentley Continental, with its body made out of Narra wood. The weight of the wood might drop it's top speed of 202 miles an hour down a bit, but hey, it'll be a beauty!

This is the house of Maguindanao National High School principal Maimona Ampatuan..so maybe education can be quite a lucrative career after all!

I tried to submit a PM, but may have messed it up (first attempt), to pass on the information that I also live in Georgia.
