Hey I know a great Chinese place in South San Fran only a few blocks from the airport. Then there's Daly City only a shore cab ride from there. It's might as well be Manila in a refrigerator.

12 hours in San Francisco is great. I advise anyone who hasn't been, to try and schedule that sort of layover if they want to see the place. The rail system is clean, fast and airport to the city cheap and easy. YIt's very 'foot friendly'. You have enough time to walk the length of Fisherman's Wharf, scope out the Golden Gate & Alcatraz from a distance, walk past the Transamerica building, watch the old men play Chinese board games in the park, walk around Chinatown some and get a great Chinese meal or two--then catch the rail back to the airport.

I found some 'hole in the wall' Chinese restaurant that I figured HAD to be good, because everyone in there was Chinese. Well, the food was great--but it took them 20 minutes to find someone who spoke and understood enough English to take my order.....

EXACTLY why do you want to risk loosing an entire day of your trip?
just so you can save $50  ::) come on even as cheep as I am I paid for the faster flight with only 1 stop.

When I bought my ticket, the price was very low. San fran to Manilla w/ one stop was $797 taxes included. Next price was $1200, a little bit more than $50 difference.
I didn't think AA would F me that bad and I've never had a flight delayed that long before.
I didn't know the policy of the airlines if they screwed the pooch. I really believed they would man up. Next major flight like this, I would get the insurance. Lesson learned.

AA basically said to suck it.  tonights flight without making me buy another ticket.

AA lost me as a customer forever.

I really believed they would man up.

Hey crashfire,

When flying AA, I always recommend  bringing your own Vasoline or offering to stick a large boot up their azz!

Last year, AA tried to bend me over and  F' me dry in LA, when I missed my PAL connecting flight by a few minutes (PAL shut their check-in window as I walked up, the plane was still at the gate)...all do to AA cancelling my connecting flight out of Dallas (Ft Lauderdale - Dallas - LA). I was lucky that I managed to get re-booked on a later flight the same day from Dallas to La! Most of my fellow passengers couldn't get a connecting flight until the next day. I originally had about 6 hours of a cushion before my PAL flight left LA to Manila.

The the gay AA counter worker in LA, who must have had bleeding hemorrhoids and a hangover, had the nerve in LA to bitch at me and say that it was all my fault because I missed my original connecting flight in Dallas (which was cancelled)! This caused me to go "homocidal!" I raised such a scene that the supervisor (and security) came over and quickly re-booked my PAL flights (2-to Manila and province) for the next day at no charge, provided free transportation to and from the LAX Hilton, a free room, and free meals.

Yep Dave,

Sometimes you have to really raise a ruckus, create a commotion that other customers can see and hear in a calculated way to get them to give concessions. But nowadays, you really do have to calculate the extent to avoid really getting an extended 'layover' in security...

I used to like San Francisco. I was stationed there for a couple of years back when.

HOWEVER, I urge everyone to boycott San Francisco.

If the stinking leftist, perverts running that “sanctuary city” can push for a boycott of Arizona because they don’t like their laws, then I’m going to boycott their city also. Screw them! And screw Los Angeles too!   :P

Well, the French rarely cease to annoy me, but I still plan on checking out Paris eventually.

That said, there's probably at least a dozen other far away places I haven't been to yet either, places I'd rather see first and if I don't get to Paris, I won't die regretting it--but I may well regret going there if I do!

Hey Rob,

Very true! You have to know what you are doing and the limits...who is going to pick on a handicapped guy with glasses in a wheelchair?  ::)

Hey Ray,

I agree! I have been boycotting San Francisco for years! But now LA is on my list, as is Miami! Chicago will likely be next, after it also becomes an even bigger sanctuary city, welcoming part of the exodus of more than a half million illegals from Arizona.

I think what irks a lot of us about illegals is that we paid so much and waited so long to 'do it right' and now most of our wives are working and paying taxes too. We get sick, there's no freebie care at the local hospitals for us.

My grandparents came from Italy and Ireland respectively (and legally) and got smacked down with discrimination, going with out jobs, while seeing signs in windows saying things like "Help Wanted--NO Irish or Italians Need Apply".

They sucked it up and embraced this country, food, values, language and all, while not disgarding their homeland or forgetting ways of old. The men served in the military and the whole family focused on the opportunities this country not provided, not on perceived injustices.

In a similar vein, my wife was extremely proud to become a US Citizen--the only reservation she's expressed is that she just doesn't want to have to sit in judgement of others in jury duty! haha...

Maybe Arizona should deport all of the illegals they round up TO San Francisco.
The average illegal costs the taxpayers ~$30,000 in services;
L.A. city government has about $58,000,000 in contracts with AZ companies that it wants to cancel for their boycott.
If AZ deports about 2,000 illegals to L.A., they'll come out ahead.

BTW, folks, Disneyland is NOT in L.A.  It's in Anaheim, Orange County, which isn't boycotting anybody (yet).

I read in this morning's paper that Orange County is the most Republican county in the country. Too bad we have to be next door to LA. but fortunately we border San Diego on the other side. Maybe we should draw a line east from the ocean down the 91 freeway to the 15 north, and secede from Taxifornia and make a 51st state. We could call ourselves Aztlan - really piss off the illegals.
