Today I received the I-797 Notice of action!
« on: March 15, 2010, 11:15:42 PM »
The receipt date for my I129F Fiancee visa packet at the CA service center was 1/12/10.

The I-129F Notice date I received today is dated 3/10/10. The approval notice is Valid from 3/10-7/9/10.

I had been worrying because after I sent in my packet I was told by some other guys on the internet that my case may be denied due to there being a "two K Visa per life rule". My ex wife is Filipina, who I married there. And I had already had a fiancee visa petition that was approved, but I ended the relationship with her before she passed the Embassy interview portion. So I guess that rule may only come into play if you have used your two chances for fiancee visas, and not the spousal visa, who knows?

Anyway, from this point, I know they will be sending a packet to my girl from the Embassy in Bogota with her list of things she needs to do. With my ex, I know we had some problems with the vaccinations because there were a couple that required a couple injections with some time in between. So we the whole process had to wait for those.

I was wondering if anyone had a current, comprehensive list of the vaccinations that are required so we can get started on them now rather than her waiting for her packet.

For that matter anything else that you guys can suggest that we can do now to save us some time.

Fathertime, I know you recently went through all this so you may be the main man with the most up to date info.

From the time you received this I-797 notice, how long did it take until your woman was with you in the States?

Seems like things are moving much faster than the last time.

A K-1 visa holder is not required to have any vaccinations done prior to entering the US - they are required before filing for AOS and can be obtained after entering the US. Because of the fact that different USCIS visa officers are interpreting the rules concerning the need for a Civil Surgeon to sign off on a I-693 vaccination supplement differently, I found it much easier to just wait until my fiancee (now wife) arrived in the US before getting her vaccinations. That way instead of trying to rely on the vaccination supplement part of the original medical exam to satisfy the AOS requirements, we had all the vaccinations done in the US and signed off on by a Civil Surgeon and encountered no problems during AOS.

I assume that your fiancee is between 18 and 60 - if so, the requirements consist of 3 vaccinations: MMR, TD/Tdap and chicken pox (Varicella)

Alabama,

You don’t have to wait for the embassy to mail her a visa package. She can download the K-Visa appointment & instruction packages from the embassy’s Web site:

http://bogota.usembassy.gov/appt-package.html

They also have Spanish versions available.

She can start getting her documents together now…Birth Cert, recent Baptismal Cert, passport, police clearances, etc.

Capston, I checked out the link that Ray provided above and there is indeed a long list of vaccinations required before a visa may be issued. I knew there was because my ex from Colombia had a bunch to do before she could go to the interview.

Ray, I was searching for a link with the interview packet in Spanish, but could not find it on the Bogota website. Do you happen to have any links for that?

Thanks.

Thanks.

That list is for all vaccinations that may be necessay for immigration purposes but the catch is that they are all age specific - the only ones that are required for ages 18-60 are MMR, TD/Tdap and chicken pox (Varicella). Here is a link to the CDC immigration document that breaks down the age requirements for each vaccination - the chart on page 12 lists them all and to which age group(s) they apply. My wife and I recently completed AOS for a K-1 and so unfortunalty I know all too well what is currently required. http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dq/pdf/ti_vacc.pdf

Hey Alabamaboy!

My 797 notice came in late March, her interview could have been late June, but we delayed slightly and she interviewed in July and was with me in Early August.  So it was roughly 3 months between the 797 and the interview, after the interview it was just a couple weeks.

Alabama boy, go to the above link for a good idea of timelines for the entire process. These are based on several, not just one, case and you can see them based on the country as well.

As far as vaccinations there is good info on that as well under "Visa FAQs".For this process it is good to get several people's experiences for a more accurate idea of what is going on.

Near the upper-right corner of the screen, click on “En Espanol” and you’ll get the Spanish version of the Web site.
