So your son is following in the footsteps of his old man, eh? Congratulations!

What? The Seattle rain festival that normally runs from Jan 1 to Dec 31 is going to be canceled this week because of weather?

Haffy 4th to you also!

The weather up here in the Seattle area has been remarkably good this year. I think they had some article on how we had the longest dry period in recorded history up here...23 days or something like that.

We're in San Antonio on our way west.  Hope to find some nice 4th activities tomorrow.  We ate at one of my favorite River Walk restaurants tonite, Casa Rio - service sure has dropped off there but the food is still great for the price.

It was odd that as we headed west from Houston the traffic was actually pretty congested heading to San Antonio but almost nil going the other way?  Houston has some great 4th of July activities too?

I grew up on my Grandfather's farm outside of St.Louis. Along with with 4 sets of Aunts and Uncles and as many as 13 Cousins got on the same school bus.  Every summer we had a family reunion on the 4th. When I was a young adult in the 70's, before my grandma(1976) and grandpa(1984)died, as many as 150 relatives would celebrate the 4th together.  It's sad, but I think this year may be the last. Most of the Aunts and Uncles Have passed(my mother last year) The oldest Aunt is 92 years young and her sister turned 90 on the 2nd of July.  It isn't really safe for them to live by themselves, 13 miles from a town of 4000.  So, I have really great memories from where I grew up and our 4th of July celebrations.  Most of them were from 3 older boy cousins and us 4 younger boy cousins and the Mischief we created.  One time, we caught one of the older cousins in the top of a persimmon tree, and bombarded him with green persimmons.  I think their was some arsh chewing from the Boys aunt and a black-eye involved....LOL  You should hear the one about the rotten tomatoes.

Happy 4th and memories to you all.

Happy Fourth of July and Happy Filipino-American Friendship Day!

July 4 was chosen to commemorate the liberation of the Philippines from Japanese military occupation at the end of World War II, by  joint Filipino and American forces. Initially, the nation's Independence Day holiday (Araw ng Kalayaan) was held on July 4, 1946,when the Philippines gained Independence from the US. Philippine Independence Day (Independence from Spain) is now celebrated June 12th. All was quiet with the Feminists and commies in my area.
