I did actually find this pretty interesting and different. I haven't encountered any problems with "the family" so far but you basically ran into a f load of them.

Generally speaking you want mom, dad, and the siblings to like you but with the rest of them who really cares. Sounds like the problem is the rest of them are paying for her school, apartment, and likely other things for her immediate family. In a situation like that I'd really be torn on what to do. Financially speaking I would assume you could continue to court her, marry her, and enroll her in nursing classes here. But what could that mean for the rest of her family back home? If her family in the USA gets pissed because she isn't following what they planned out could they take it out on your woman's immediate family by not sending anymore $$$?

What if the LA meeting with the family doesn't go well? Do you court her anyways? Even with a source which must be telling the USA family what will be going on. Glad I'm not in your shoes.

I have only one Filipino male friend and I haven't seen him in 20 years.

Hey Cbear,

You might consider hiring a Filipino actor to play the part of your best friend. There should be plenty in Las Vegas for the fight! You could probably book one for very little money.  ;D I am actually semi-serious. It would definately work like a charm!  Of course you may have to keep him on retainer. ::)

Good luck!

OK the dates have been set, in July.

They have also asked to come meet my parents. Since my parents are unable to go to LA with me.

I think all will be fine. I have good reason to believe they are just making sure I'm not some pycho or something.

I have already met her mother and have permission to court her from her. Her father is dead.

OK, guys, when I come to LA, who wants to get together and hang out at least 1 night?

It depends on where in LA, but if it's somewhere in the south west side, I'll have a cold one with you. LA is a big place.

Time for another get-together in the tatami room at Sanuki no Sato?  I think I've been there once since Eric passed away.

Well, there you go, Cbear.  As the time approaches and your schedule gets finalized and you'd still like to get together, let us know and we can arrange an "offu-kai" (using the Japanese word for an off-line meeting).  Depending on where the GF's family lives, we might be able to recommend a nice inexpensive hotel in a safe neighborhood, and pick you up for dinner.
