Growing In Grace
« on: June 22, 2007, 01:08:04 PM »
The Reverend José Luis De Jesús Miranda whose wife is Colombian is the leader of the Growing in Grace Church. He has stated that :

“two heavenly beings took him to a marble hall where an apparition merged with his body and began to speak inside of him. De Jesus believes that he and Jesus Christ became one and the same in that instant.”

He advises his followers “they can live any way they want to because sin doesn't exist and the devil is dead.” He also teaches that Christian churches are led by "ministers of Satan," and he encourages members of his organization to stage protests at church services and Christian events. Growing In Grace church members are encouraged to scream at people and carry placards with messages such as "THE DEVIL WAS DESTROYED." In Colombia De Jesús' followers staged simultaneous protests in 22 cities. This is clearly the wave of the future for evangelical Christianity in Colombia and the rest of Latin America and is already beginning to spread from Florida through out the US. (see below)

Yogi Berra is a modern day prophet: “It’s déjà vu all over again.”

This “minister” is charsimatic and an avowed anti-semite – telling Hispanics that Judiaism tainted the Catholic Church and so deceived South Americans after Colombus arrived.   You can verify this at the cited article’s website and  http://www.cegenglish.com/

He pledges prosperity to those who donate.  He wants to be president of the world (with a seal on his website that mimics that of the U.S. President).  The unsupported link on his site to “Super Race” tells us everything we need to know.

This man’s “ministry” will fail in time.  I do not see it “increciendo” to the extent some fear.  The contradictory statements he makes (even those quoted in one article alone) show a stunning lack of simple logic.

But his current “success” goes to one of my criticisms of Latin culture -- its acceptance of superstition, including astrology.  Some readily believe that rolling chicken bones on the floor can foretell succeess in life, love and business -- and incantations and some herbs thrown over your head can cure you of disease.

There are smaller versions of this character on television (with 30 minute informercials) in Mexico.

Another (but less insipid) version of this is Walter Mercado.  He is 50% each of Liberace and Miss Cleo and on television frequently.  Lots of female adherents.

The current character is just a younger Walter Mercado with a dose of hatred added.

I hope I have respectfully offended all CEGers, astrologists, and wizards.

Hat tip: Yogi

Now that i think about it Im not sure but i think i saw that guy on TV interview, he was on the Glenn beck show. If i recall the guy was a total nut case. His follwers are branding them selves with the mark 666, saying that its not really satan cuz satan is dead. The guy was claiming he dad jesus inside or him or some thing like that, he looked, acted and spoke like a nut , and his follwers were just as goofy as he was.
Maybe he will get a reality show, Hollywood likes that kind of stuff.
