I'm a single dad now for 5 years. Have had a few relationships since then but have had it with American women. Have been researching the last couple of weeks Colombian women. Sounds really great....lots of agencys out there. But basicaly it sounds like its a waste of time to write someone before ever visiting there. Most sound like a guy just needs to go on the singles vacation. But $$$$$$$.....at this rate it would be SEVERAL years before could go. Things are just too tight with the 2 kids and all. But am dead serious. I want to find a bride from Colombia, either Barranquilla or Cali. Does anyone know of a tust worthy agency that has the singles vacation that is not as pricey. I know they say you get what you pay for. But I could use any help I can get right now trying to weed this all out. I'm jst sick and tired of being sick and tired and do not want to be alone anymore and I sure don't want to try another round with another American woman. Thanks in advance to all that have any advice for me.

Why is it a waste of time to write before you go? Most of the guys here are not writers but I am. I wrote to my wife for a couple of months before I visited her, then married her on my second visit a couple of months later. We've been happily married for over five years. There is no "right" way to do this, it depends on your personality and those of the women who interest you.

Welcome. Advice? Sure. (But then, who knows if my advice is all that good?)

1) Don't go on a 'singles vacation' while you're desperate. (And you are--quote: and do not want to be alone anymore). If you do, I'm sure you can find somebody, probably even a looker. Of course she may be desperate (for a visa and/or meal ticket) too.

2) Colombia (Mexico, Philippines, Thailand, or Ireland and France, for that matter) is not a magic pill that makes everything suddenly OK.

3) Why not write? Writing is a cheap and relativity easy way to narrow down the field, get things down to 'pretty sure she's the one', before you blow a lot of money on travel. Granted, there is the possibility that you thought she was the one but when you meet in person she isn't, that's why a lot of guys advocate having a 'plan b lady' and a 'plan c lady', just in case that happens-your choice to do that or not.

4) Can you read, write, speak and understand Spanish? (Ordering a taco or a beer doesn't count, because that's about all the English most of them will know).

Now, don't let any of that I just wrote scare you off, lot's of good women down there, just telling you to take your time, be careful, and be sure you do hook up with a good one.

 I don't think writing someone before you go is a complete waste of time because you can learn things about someone that way.I just wouldn't base a decision to marry on that without meeting them in person. Learning spanish is great.If you don't speak the same language it can be tough. Listening to each other breathe over the phone and making "kissy" faces on a webcam can get old while you are waiting for the visa approval.

here is some advice- dont go on a singles vacation. Lets be frank, , , If you want to whore around, then just say that is what you want to do.

I can give you all the information that you need for Bangkok and you can go have at it. You can stay at a guet house for a week and chase tail to your hearts content. Just dont MARRY those girls. Decent Thai women require substantial correspondence and contacts

If you go the socials route, I think that your chance of success is less than 10% and I am well-qualified to give that opinion. The owners are just pimps by another name.

If you are serious, then I would write first and establish some common interests with some women and narrow the field down to meet a few. This will cut your costs significantly as you will be seriously searching and separating the wheat from the chaff. . .

You are getting some great advice hear. there is nothing wrong with writting before you travel and it is very important for you to learn some Spanish. I used an agency that Jamie runs and he offers a great service and he is a very honest owner.

Thanks for all the advice, I welcome it all. I guess I should be more specific. My intentions are not to "..whore around..." but rather to meet single Colombian women that are interested in marriage. Now thanks you what you all have said on here I will start with writing to some of the ladies before , or ever, going on a singles tour.

I have looked at Jamie's service and it does by far seem to be the best agency. And from everything I have read he is also by far the most honest too.

When writing these ladies what percentage of them are honest? I am looking for a lady that would not have children yet. I dont' want to be writing one for quite a while and think maybe this could be the one and then go to visit and then find out she has a child. Whats the best way to go about this?
