Her parents don't drive, they live way out in the country & if they have to go somewhere they hire a car & driver.
I guess that's how it's done there.
Actually, it's not very common to hire a car and driver except on special occasions, or perhaps when escorting important guests from out of town (that's you pig).
Public transportation is what the vast majority of Filipinos rely on to get around. There are large passenger ferries for inter-island travel, smaller passenger boats, "pump boats", and bankas for local travel over the water, busses and large jeepneys for inter-city travel, smaller jeepneys, "multi cabs", and shuttle busses for getting around town, and tricycles or motor scooters that will take you almost anywhere and drop you at your door.
You will even see horse-drawn carriages and folks riding water buffaloes in some places.
Air-conditioned public transportation usually commands a premium price.
Very few Filipino families have their own cars, jeeps, or even scooters, and those are mostly in the larger towns or cities.
