TRAVEL plans changed due to feedback from others

I had plans to visit Bogota and Medellin in July, but after several posters from
other  sites have advised me that as a black man I would do much better in Cartagena  or  Cali , it seems that I  must take that advice to heart and maybe change my original plans.

I would like some honest feedback from others on this site who have traveled
to these cities and have met women from Colombia. There is a social  site that
I  frequently enter called cybercupido.com and  the women from Cali and Cartagena
seem darker than the other two cities and certainly more beautiful, but they also
appear  poorer and perhaps less educated. 

So right now it is a tossup. Someone pleases steer me correctly please.

Cybercupido is a relatively undiscovered and un-gringoized gem of a site, perhaps due in part to the fact it doesn't contain a single word of English (and hence one would hope a relatively low % of green card sharks.) I've certainly met my fair share of contacts through it, including some mixed-race legal and medical students from the Atlantico and Bolivar provinces. Even if such girls are poor today, with the right backing and support i doubt they'll remain poor for long!

I'm heading that way this Summer. The only thing i'm not looking forward to is enduring the tropical weather, but hey, you can't have it all.

I met my wife on Cybercupido, so I know that you can indeed find a gem on that site. As far as a black man going to Bogota or Medellin, you can do just fine. My one time in Medellin i met a guy named Kenny, he was ex CIA and was living there and all the white women loved him. I would not assume that just because you are an African American that you would not do well in those cities. remember, Colombia has a rainbow of colors of skin and tend to be prejudice toward social class more then skin color. Certainly the coast is nice and Cali too, but do not discount any city based on the color of your skin. Really is not that important in Colombia. Good Luck

I don't think the advice you got about Bogota and Medellin is bad because I'd be better off in Cartagena and Cali and I'm as white as a snow flake. I just don't see how it is relevant to you being black.

If the women you are writing to know you are black and express an interest in meeting you I don't think it really matters what city they are located in.

If you are worried about something bad happening to you simply because you happen to be a black man in Bogota I wouldn't worry about it. Your chances of being attacked by a group of racist colombianos is next to nill.

Any man (white, Black or otherwise) is going to have a better chance of hitting it off with women in Cali, Baranquilla and Cartagena (in that order) than Bogota and Medellin simply because the women are just more open to meeting guys whenever and where ever.

I just wouldn't waste my time going to Bogota unless you have developed some hot prospects online. Medellin is good if you have already met chicks online and or speak very good spanish otherwise skip it as a newbie.

If you really like the paisa look (white skin with black hair) start trying to meet women online from Pereira. It is hard to find a really ugly chick for there and there are an unbelievable amount of complete knockouts in that city and it is only a four hour drive from Cali.

PM me and I'll give you the number of a black american friend of mine that lives in Cali and you can ask him what his experiance has been like.

i would not worry about your skin color i have a very close friend of mine who is African American and has been married 5 years to a Colombia women he meet in San Andres. When i was in BAQ many of the women i meet all told me that white or black was not an issue anywhere in Colombia. If i was you i would just go to wherever you want and do not let you race stop you.

I agree with all of those who have posted in your thread.  Your skin color is of FAR less importance than your socio-economic stratum.  If you appear to come from a good background, ie dress well, speak well, have an education, have a professional job, have enough money to live comfortably, you will have all kinds of women after you.

    I would also try Barranquilla also, I found my wife there and when she spends a little time in the sun her skin turns a beautiful dark brown. I know of several brothers that found their mates in Barranquilla with little or no problems.

Although color/race plays a role all over the world, it's who you ARE as a black man or white man that's more important. Now if you are looking for someone to feel SORRY for you, STAY HOME! Don't go anywhere.

Remember these two things:

1. Perfect yourself (as best you can) BEFORE you go. Whatever wardrobe, skin, teeth, weight or grooming issues you MAY have, correct them. It is time for people to be the "RIGHT" person instead of always looking for the "RIGHT" person.

2. Money and success is the INTERNATIONAL language. Keep this in mind.

Finally, please go to Bogota and Medellin. I want to hear how it was. The movies that I loved the most people said they were horrible!

   All I can tell you is from experience I have made many trips to Barranquilla. Go where you want I don't care but listen to the guys who actually have made some trips there and not guys here who sit all day trying to find red flags. I made mention of Barranquilla only because I know several black men who married some of the most beautiful Colombian woman. They still are married and happy. Why do I recommend Barranquilla? Only because of my experience there. My wife loves Medellin she says the place is beautiful, in fact she told me tonight because that is where she is at right now.

   If you want to fail then show your bankroll let all the girls know you have money, when you bring them back here then we will all get to watch the train wreck. I think this is the most foolish advise you will receive, money will help you all right, to find the wrong girl. Brag your self up show her you have a ego, that is some real good advise (choke). When I found my girl I kept my ego in check and I let her know I did not have a lot of money. I felt that if I could not win her over with my good looks (laugh) and my personality then let some other man have her. There are plenty of fish in the sea. Please listen to the guys who have success!!!

By showing you have lots of money is not going lead the success finding a beautiful , loyal , loving wife.

Actually showing off will do the opposite and bring you money hunters and green card sharks out.

The way you write your book sounds like how a single man can get laid in SA. A lot of men here are not looking to get laid but to find a wonderful and sincere wife. I think maybe you came to wrong the website and you thought you were going to ISG instead .

I wouldn’t worry about it so much and I wouldn’t change your plans. It’s not so much the color of somebody’s skin, but it’s more how you act, how you talk, how you treat other people and your personality. I have seen good looking guys crash and burn in just about every city in Colombia because they just didn’t know how to act or didn’t know how to communicate with women and the girls could tell they were not serious.  I have seen average looking guys do very well because they were fun, funny, had good personalities, were sincere and serious and the girls felt comfortable with them.

Everybody has a certain look or type of person they are attracted to, me myself, I am attracted to girls who are tan or dark skinned and I shy away from girls with white skin, just my preference, but I have met girls in Medellin and Bogotá, who have no problem or prefer guys who are dark skinned. Pick a city that you would like to go to, based on what you’re looking for and would like to do and go for it.

If your really adventurous, and would still prefer to go to cities with more of a Caribbean or African influence, try Monteria or Buenaventura.

Instead of wringing your hands and listening to guys who popped on the forum from nowhere trying to be in Oprah's book of the month club, there are people who have actually been there. I for one can tell you that where my lady is from in Barranquilla, many of the ladies there actually prefer dark skinned/black men. People on the coast are a little darker up thata way. But in reality, get some Spanish down, polish yourself up with a haircut and some decent clothes and just go to whichever city that sounds like a place you would like to visit.

There is no magical one city that you can go to, so don't think of it that way. Anymore than there is in the states. Concentrate more on knowing what you are looking for in a potential life partner and develop a rapport with a few women. The lady will either like you or not depending more on how you present yourself and how you two click. Not by flashing $ in her face. You're going to attract all of the wrong ladies by going with half-baked advice. Don't worry too much about being black or finding the right city. Concentrate on finding the right woman, since that's the reason you're here.
