Thinking about Medellin en Agosto

I am thinking of either going to Medellin or San Jose in August for my first trip south. I am not really looking for a wife right now but will be in a few years when I get a little more financially settled. I just want to go and check things out and see wher I might want to go back to every six months or so. Im thinking Colombia. I do not want to go through an agency but I might want to try and stay an agency B&B or apartment. Im reading to many negative reviews on agencies since I came back to this site after a 1 year absence. So, any experience in Medellin staying at an agency apartment and just doing everything else solo? I am meeting a lot of chicas on the social networking sites so I dont think I will have any problems as far as that goes. Really all I need is about 5 girls to meet and Im happy. Im sure out of 5 girls I will take a fancy to one and vice versa. Basically Im wondering if anybody has any experience with the apts. i see advertised all over here........Mike

Do Medellin if your Spanish is decent. Otherwise do San Jose.

UC is correct, if your spanish is not fairly good, Medellin probably is not a good choice. But, it is a great city, lots of fun and the people that I have met there are very warm and friendly and I"m going back again in a few weeks and will post another trip report when I return.

I received an email from a poster on another site telling me to be careful with the agencies which offer rooms as the tendency is to pay for more than you get.  He advised to meet and know girls from the social sites such as cybercupido and have them lined up before you arrive.

medellin is a nice city to visit, unless your doing something stupid or go someplace where you should'nt be going too.  as for the apartments, lots to rent in medellin, but be careful, a lot of people that i know complained about not getting what they paid for. terrible beds, no internet or working computer, lots of street noise ect.  cant say too many good things about the girls there either.

same for the agencies there, you really got to read the " fine print" because they are only looking for your $$$$ and not your best interests. i would try san jose 1st and them medellin or some other place after.
