Hi All

Hope we are all well.

I am looking at maybe buying a small business in Barranquilla. Cartagena or santa Marta. Nothing to big, just somethin decent. I have tried to search on the internet, does anyone know of any websites where classified ads are for businesses for sale are.
I have tried to search, but without much luck , im looking for maybe an internet cafe, restaurente or somethign similar.
would be great if anyone can advice please or give details of any websittes that advertise thses businesses for sale

Have you tried the craigslist of the area?  Got to www.craigslist.org and then find the city on the right hand side.  Just a suggestion... IDK.

I think you got some good ideas from me before you came to Colombia a while back for free. , I remember mentioning  a cafe internet to you but...


A cafe internet is not such a good idea anymore in Barranquilla, Companies like metrotel, Telefonica Telmex have great internet and land line deals. Not to mention Movistar, Comcel. Tigo and Une which have a great wireless services. And wi-fi areas in every mall, buenavista, portal del prado, restaurants... I see people coming in with their laptops or smartphones. So it is not such a good idea anymore at least in the north part of town where people can afford to buy computers and sign up to internet plans. So unless you dont have a problem to have your business south part of town or downtown, I would suggest look into it before you get into it. Al thought the communication business is always good, you just need to place yourself in an area where it would really be needed.

How about an agency in Cartagena to compete with the formidable Amor De Cartagena? It would be easy to do good business when they compare and contrast the two products...if you can do even a fair job.

believe you could just set up an LLC in your home state and do Machin's idea. Just have them pay online thru paypal to your account and done deal. Be IMBRA compliant would be my suggestion.

I'm nota huge fan of the big socials (definiately not with the afa company) but I'm starting to think of ways to decreepify the industry. Do you really want to run a "mail order bride" or marriage agency. Or start a dating service. Marketing would have a lot to do with how you are precieved.

The one bonus of a small social/party is how much you might get done as a guy traveling down and as a business owner. You have a small party saturday evenings and you send out invites to ladies your visiting clients have an interest in. Then they meet and greet and set up dates. You have translators there to book for the dates as well. No a terrible idea if there are enough translators, the right women are there, and it is a productive short party. Meaning the guys meet the women they want and have a chance to learn a little about each of them.

You would have nothing but problems buying a business in Colombia. But if that is what you are going to do you may want to see if the classified are posted on the website of the local newspaper

It takes very little capital to start an Internet café so why buy someone else’s trash. This is also a dying industry.

As for restaurants someone going into the restaurant business without experience is making a big mistake. This is a very competitive industry which means profit margin is very low.

One idea is you may want to look at what is new and successful in the UK that can possibly be transferred here and work.
