For those married to Colombianas

I have been reading that you need the apostille. Ok so does his mean on the birthcertificate, divorce papers, and document stating you are single? Any other papers needed? Also do you have them translated before the apostille or after?

I have been reading about this stuff. Would be greatly appreciated if a couple of people who have married a girl in Colombia could tell us what they went thru.

Don't know, I got mine a K-1 and married her in Texas. Do a search on 'Consulado de Colombia', pick the one that looks like it would have jurisdiction over your area, then tomorrow call them and ask. I'm not aware of any US state that issues any official document that states 'This person is not currently married', but I'm sure the consulate office will tell you what you need.

I got married in Colombia in both a civil and Catholic wedding. There was a lot of paperwork but nothing that couldn't be handled. The US embassy web site page previously mentioned is excellent.

Thanks, she is talking to a notary to find out what we will need. Not planning on anything to soon, just want to have things lined up for when I need them.

If one notary is particularly difficult, go to a different one. Some are worse than others about being sticklers.
