Hmm, maybe something to Filipinas

Was chatting with one of my fellow law students, who's an older Filipina (born there, parents moved here when she was college age I think), ex-businesswoman, and now law student. We were talking about one of our exams, the fact that there are a lot of single moms in America came up, and she was sighing at how foolish the women were for not having a husband.

Thought it was kind of interesting that such a high-powered woman had such traditional views of marriage. Certainly says a lot for Filipinas.

You can be a single parent and have never had a family, or be a widow. It doesn't preclude a woman from having traditional views on marriage either, it could be that her pre-marital partner was disloyal and used her.

Isn't divorce illegal in the philippines anyways? That would seem to suggest that the divorce rate would be pretty low...

Well, I'm no expert, but it seemed like traditional values re: marriage was one of the big attractors of Filipinas.

 Divorce is illegal and most Filipino guys have 2 families. One real, the other the mistress. It's a Spanish thing............
