20-20 investigation by John Stossel entitled "Stupid in America" highlighting some of the flaws with the education system in the United States.

The story started out when identical tests were given to high school students in New Jersey and in Belgium. The Belgian kids cleaned the American kids' clocks. The Belgian kids called the American students "stupid", which gave the piece its name.

Jay Greene, author of "Education Myths," points out that "If money were the solution, the problem would already be solved: We've doubled per pupil spending, adjusting for inflation, over the last 30 years, and yet schools aren't better."

One of my degrees is a B.S. in Computer Science in which I have a near perfect GPA of 3.96. I completed every one of my programming assignments on time and in several cases I was the only one in a class of 50 or more to get the assignment done at all. EVEN the Asian guys used to ask me for help. I am a product of the North American public education system and I beat every foreigner that was up against me. I bet I even did better than some snotty little Belgian bastards. In my current job, up against the vaunted Indian and Russian programmers, yeah you guessed it, they have to ask ME for help. Which being the generous American that I am, I gladly give but I am sick of hearing how much better the foreigners are. They're not. I kicked their asses in school and I kick their asses now.

Congrats to you UC...obviously you are among a small group of  outliers.......the cost/benefit ratio of hiring IT overseas far outweighs hiring within a high tax/high regulation country like the USA for MOST situations...not all.

UTC blame anyone you want for the gas prices, Bush/Cheney, Exxon, OPEC, whoever? you are missing my point, we are at about $2.60 to $3.40 per gallon now but when the liberals yank us out of the middle east you will see these $3.00 per gallon prices jump to about $6.00 a gallon.
The radicals will take over the middle east, the ship lines will be blocked, the price of gas will sky rocket and we wont be able to do a damn thing about it.
