Your opening line is puzzling.  "Great post Pete".
Pete died more than 1 year ago so why would you be replying to his post?

It appears to me that you are using this situation and post as an agency owner to blatantly advertise your new Medellin agency in addition to promoting your Bogota office.

I visited Cali on many occasions during the "roaring 90's" and used several agencies including Latin Connections, Latin-Internet and Latin Best.  I certainly have no recollection of your agency during those years.  Care to explain?

I also agree with sorprano69 and p.daddy that too many older and over-weight men are competing for high-priced paisas in Medellin by thinking that they can buy some expensive pussy and maintain some kind of long-distance exclusive relationship when they're not around.  LOL with that!  Most of those women already have colombiano boyfriends who service them on a regular basis.  Fool's gold.  Anyone thinking otherwise is only fooling themselves.

The gringo logic for the "below average guys" is "If I bring my hottie to the U.S. it'll cost me a lost more dinero to keep her impressed on the same level as I can impress her in her country. Pretty soon she'll realize what a putz she married and fly the coop. So better keep her in her country, visist as often as I can and I'll still look like a big-shot to her and her family.

Reality however is, as soon as this gringo gets on the plane, his girl is fooling around with some other guy who is either younger and better looking,or just anotther sugar daddy.

Unless you have something else to offer these girls besides money ,young, handsome,,fit, good personality you are essentially buying yourself a mate.

I suppose if I spent all my time in El Poblado chasing prepagos at Mango's, I would have a very low opinion of Medellin myself. Luckily I don't. There are a lot of attractive, professional women there like my wife, who have had a bad break in life and ended up a widow with a few kids. I know several just like her but most guys aren't interested in an older woman with kids. Nevertheless even at 47 my wife can still turn heads here and best of all, she treats me like a king.

I have often heard from many gringos that if you plan on pulling age differences its best to live there and keep an eye on her. ;D

sadly many of us can't do that.

even with that, i met a guy who lived in Medellin half the time, 3 or 4 weeks in Medellin, then back to the US for a few weeks and then back to MED. he found out his girlfiend was a Prepago, of course, he should have known something was up, she would not answer her phone for hours, then on again, then off again. some nights, she was not available. i think he was in denial, thought he could pull off a 20 year age difference and she was pretty cute, probably an 8 or so. Even with living  there 50% of the time is no guarantee she does not have a local boyfriend. bigest problem i see is, guys are dating WAY out of their league, 40 to 60 year old guys that are 5 to 7's dating girls who are 18 to 28 who are 7 to 9's . its not going to work!!!!

Mudd,

until these old average guys start understanding a girl(considering their ages) wants a relationship with a mature man who is financially secure. But still would rather have sex with a hardbody or at least firm body, rather than one with wrinkles and a gut or worse yet a whole spare tire. They'll think more realistically. Gringos should understand though they may be able to keep her, sexually she'll still want her little boy-toys to turn her on.

That is no different from men. People are visually stimulated. Very young women are much more likely to need visual stimulation in a sexula relationship than a woman a bit older. If she takes care of her body, works out for a firm tummy, tush and all, do you think she's really admiring the fat and wrinkles on a guy. She works to make herself look good partly because a gut or fat is not appealing to her on herself. Why would it be appealing to her on a man?

exactly!!!!!!   they (girls from 18 to 28 )date the old man for stability and financial security, but have fun and are looking for a younger man when he is not around. for some reason,  the men coming down don't get it. fat, old and wrinkles on a guy and no hair is not every girls dream of a boyfriend or husband. not knocking anybody looks, but be realistic when going after a girl, look in the mirror and decide what you actually think you could keep happy and be happy yourself with, a 6 to 7, or a 8 to 9, wont even touch the 10's.  unless you know its for fun and its only going to last as long as  their's $$$ in the wallet. I'm a good looking guy, but i don't bother with anything over an 8, because i know, deep down, its not going to last and its not worth the headache and heartache.

just wanted to throw in my two cents worth about my experiences in Medellin.  While there is no doubt that safety can be an issue as it appears to be in most cities in colombia, I don't think it is quite as bad as you make it out. I don't hang out at oviedo or poblado, spend most of my time in Santa monica, Laureles and Las Colores and spent a few days in Manrique (not sure of spelling) famous in the old days for pablos's siccarios and the ongoing battles in the streets. While it is a poor area, strata 1 or 2, I have yet to have anyone ask me how old I am or where do i work. I was asked where I lived in the USA, which I think would be a normal question to ask. The people that I have meet have been very warm and friendly and very proud of their city.  My novia has never asked me for money, presents or anything else and has not been surgically enhanced.  Medellin is famous for it's silicon creations, but get out of Poblado and the rate of silicone enhancement drops to almost nothing.

There are areas in the city which I would not go to, but there are areas of Los Angeles that I would not go to either after dark or during the day for that matter.. When it rains in Medellin, it is quite a downpour, I can't compare it to southeast asia as I have not been there, but on the other hand, depending on what time of year you are there, you may have little or no rain.  I like the climate very much.

I keep reading posts in which it says that Medellin is full of Gringo's...well, they must all hang out in Poblado as I have only seen one other gringo outside of Poblado and that was at a Carrefour in Envigado.

It is interesting to read each persons opinions of a particular city, especially the different points of view and experiences that they have had in that city. Each persons experience is different and sometime so different I wonder if we are all talking about the same city!

As to the cost of living there, compared to Los Angeles, the prices are very very cheap, but compared to other cities in Colombia it may well be expensive.

just my humble opinion, your milage may vary

Dan

Hey Vegas man,
As far as security, just my opinion on the cities I have been too, Cali is the most dangerous, followed by Medellin, then Bogotá, Barranquilla, Cartagena, Manizales being the safest. I have seen  more gringos floating around Medellin more now than in the last 2 years, but it has gone down a bit, due to weak dollar. Even ran into 3 in the small city of Santa fee, (wow was it damm hot there, advice, don’t go unless you like the heat). out side Medellin, but most do seem to stick to poblado, San Diego and Envingado areas, some venture out in the surrounding areas, but if you go to park lleras, wow, you will see a lot of gringos there, more then you care to see.

Hey mudd,

I can't speak to Cali as I have not been there, but from what people have told me it ranks number one on most peoples lists as the most dangerous city as well.  So you went to Santa Fe de Antioquia?  Aside from being hot, how did you like it? My novia wants to take me there on my next visit in January, is it worth going to see?

its a nice little village, i liked it, but if you cant deal with heat, then don't go. advice, if your going to stay a few days, get a room at a small resort there, WITH A POOL!!!!!

also, the traffic was terrible took 3 hours to get there, but 1.5 to get back.  and a little scary at times

Mudd,

That is no different from men. People are visually stimulated.

I've argued this point before with feminist who say that men and women are EXACTLY the same(or so they want to believe)...my point is that men and women are NOT the same.Men are far more visual than women....hence the sheer number of strip clubs and nudie mags devoted to showing naked women compared to that of those devoted to showing naked men....Men and Women are NOT the same...while women may be visually stimulated also, they are not to the extent that men are....so there is no comparison...

Response to BogotaJim's post are in Red:
I had an agency in Cali in the roaring 90's (Only Latin Connections and a couple of others in the south were roaring then and don't remember yours) and have an agency in Medellin now just recently opened Medellin.latinlifemates.com/Medellin/)

I have only spoken with Jim on the phone and I am not affiliated with any agency what so ever.I also was a member of Latin Connections in Cali during the 90's.I remember hearing about Latin Life Mates alot when I visited and I heard Jim's name mentioned several times(in a positive way).
