Other latin countries
« on: September 28, 2007, 10:44:25 AM »
Hello all. I'm a newbie. My question is this. I was interested in Dominican Republic. Is that a good place to look for a wholesome woman. If not then besides Columbia, and Peru, what other LA countries do you suggest? Also which agency in DR is recommended.

DR is great, although I don't know what type of women you are most attracted to, nor what you consider a 'wholesome woman'.

I believe there are agencies in DR, but you do not need agencies there.  Women there are extremely approachable and friendly.  In Santo Domingo there is a street lined with discos called Ave Venezuela I believe.

But she's still a Dominican cutie. Lots of Dominicanas are very cute.
As you have always said and I agree, if you're a quality guy, you can get any girl you want and need to believe that. Even if she does live in the U.S.  why limit demographics.

Read her MySpace. She seems alright!

About me:

And last but so increadibly far from least my mother. Now if I could imagine the best mother imaginable, it wouldnt compare to my mom. She..s amazing, and everything I want to be and more for when I am a mother. I love her so much.

Ok now a little about myself. I have long brown hair and brown eyes. I love making new friends! Unless ur a guy who comes off hitting on me then uhh no. People who can hold up good conversation i ADORE! I might not seem like it but I love intellectual conversation, i could go on for days talking about religion, my veiwpoints on god, poverty, the government, ect. I actually love reading ( weird ya i know)... I usually come off as a bitch but thats only because I want people to give me a reason not to be one. Like if I dont like u the best thing u can do is try and talk to me, I can never be mean to a nice person. I love the beach at night, The Ocean, I am 100% Dominican [= and i love it. I am not preppy or ghetto or any of that [snip] I wear whatever looks good period. I am really funny. I can easily make someone laugh. Once someone told me I didnt match my personality

I feel unnattractive with my hair up so I strongly doubt you..ll see me that way. I think first impressions suck. I usually start off hating some of my best friends. I hate when people make fun of kids with problems they cant help. I dont know how kids can be so cruel sometimes. Youth, truthfully I am one of those kids that never want to grow up. If I could be fifthteen forever Id be happy. I love life even at its worst. Thats why I dont understand why some kids commit suicide. A life is a blessing. You never know what tommarow holds and maybe if you hold out for just one more day, for one more moment, you can finnally reach happiness

. I think everyone has a soulmate, and if they dont find them in this life they..ll find them in their next. I think that love always finds its way even if you live miles and miles a way from the one you love one day things will work out for the best if you let them

Thank you all. for your replies.  I do have a question, as I was looking at the post I discovered the divorce section and notice that the success rate isn't really any better than marrying an AW. So what drives you all to go out of the country and pursue these types of relationships? I mean don't get me wrong I can understand the feminist argument, but I guess in exchange you all have to break down the language and cultural barriers. It seems as though your better off just staying in the U.S. (Note: Just observation, not a final conclusion). So help me out guys/gals. I guess I want to feel better about pursuing a relationship outside the U.S.

That girl may be from the DR, but she's ALL AMERICAN. Just from the myspace, she's all gangster-party-girl. Women who have THAT many photos of themselves, are into themselve BIG TIME, which leaves little time for anyone else in their life. That sort of woman is exact reason I'm here and looking aboard.

How about you guys? Thoughts?

Btw, the DR is a very dangerous place. If you go, you need to be very careful.

The divorce rate for American/Asian marriages is much better than American/American marriages IMO. The success rate (as defined by William III) on the Asian forum is probably closer to 75-80%.

I married a foreign wife because I happen to be attracted to Asian/Filipina women and I like the Filipino culture.

If you are concerned about the language barrier, then either learn Spanish or stay away from Latin America. Most of the ladies in the Philippines, Hong Kong, and Singapore for example speak "fluent" English, so that's half of the language/cultural barriers out of the way to start.

DR is probably more dangerous than Utah, but it is not dangerous to prevent people from visiting.  I have never felt threatened there.  I stayed in the old city in SD, and visited also the Western suburbs which is the nicer part of the city.  If people go there looking to buy or sell drugs, or engage in other activities that potentially put them in contact with the criminal element, they are consciously and stupidly putting themselves in danger.  Then there are people who like to project their wealth where they should not, or go to areas where they should not go.  Same in US, too.  NYC and Miami theoretically have high crime rates, yet the vast majority of people who visit them never get the idea.

I did not mean it as a negative. I just meant she is closer to home. She is also a member of Hi5 and one of the women in my friends list.

I'm with David - girls like that are what you go overseas to get away from. JLM asked where he could find wholesome women and the responses are to check out the discos and hot hoochie mamas on myspace. Now you know why the divorce rate isn't so much better than in the US?

At the expense of sounding obvious, if you want to find wholesome women, look for women doing wholesome things. Churches, universities, volunteer organizations, businesses, and so on. Everywhere I go in Latin America I run across plenty. You might start with Amigos.com - but as Ray said, better get started learning Spanish. Just my 2 cents worth.

I had similar thoughts too after seeing her profile. Cute but not what I would look for in terms of "marriage material".

Hope. In the US, marriage is NOT a priority (or maybe staying married is not). At least elsewhere, you are probably rolling the dice with a higher probability in your favor if you understand the cultural differences wherever you go and what the women expect.

So if I'm interpreting everybody right,  enroll in a class, get some books and CD's and just jump on the plane (for me with an agency. I'll be calling you Jamie), and experience it for myself?I know that everyone loves Columbia, but what is the deal with Brazil are they too stuck up or is it just as legit as Columbia.

Oh yea I was just looking at a couple of DR sites. It' seems that there were a lot of members that were able to speak some english. i can work with that. Or is this just wishful thinking? I'm sorry I just think there hott. Of course I do need to get out of the box and venture to other places as well. Okay I'm done.

1981- you need to slow down bud. I think you are catching the same virus I did, know as "fall-in-love-with-photo" syndrome. Yes, you should start learning Spanish, but continue to do research as you are doing now. When I first found this website 2 weeks ago, after reading for a day and checking out the websites, I was SOLD! But I had to hold back my instinct of contacting these women. You should too. If you're ready, great! But learn at least a little spanish, before you go. It will go farther than you think.

What DR agency webistes are you checking out?

Regarding English, most likely it is wishful thinking and hype from the agencies.

Brazil is nice.  But I would say in terms of women, Colombia is better.  Also, it is a LOT more expensive to go to Brazil than DR, and even Colombia.

I think there's a pretty good reason the Asian divorce rate is so much lower...

Santo Domingo is very safe.  Just mind your own business, be polite and don't break the law.  As far as the DR culture goes, they are more down to earth compared to people in Colombia.  Things are also very very laid back in the DR.  You will find tons of dark skinned girls as well, especially if you get towards the DR/Haiti border.

The bottom line is this however.  Take your time choosing your lifelong mate.  You never know who that special person may be and there are plenty out there to choose from.  The reason that divorce rates are about the same with Latin women vs. American is no mystery.  It's because people get married too quickly or for the wrong reasons.  My rule of thumb is you need to approach relationships with a Latina much the same you would with someone back home.  On top of that it is important to learn the culture and language to be able to communicate as effectively as possible.  Just stay level headed and stay realistic about the whole thing and you'll be fine.

Thanks to all. After careful consideration, I will definitely take my time with everything. I will visit both DR and Columbia. Thanks for the words of wisdom everyone. I know it will be both challenging and rewarding to find someone special. Thanks everyone.
