« on: July 22, 2007, 04:11:19 PM »
hi,i am a 26 year old guy looking to meet a woman in China or Thailand.I have never done anything like this and have never been married.I have never been too fond of the idea of marrying a american or european woman,(you can thank my mother for that.I love her but god forbid i marry someone like her)So i have been hearing about all these scams and all these bad women, any help you can give for avoiding such women?I am still a little naive when it comes to matters of the heart.Advice you can give for finding good women and things in general i should know?

Hmm...nice to see another young guy here. Can't offer too much help, but there's a ton of info in the archives. William3d's post about Thailand are usually good. I think there's a Yahoo group for guys with Chinese wives that might be good to look into, but forget the name/address.

Hi and welcome aboard! Jim's right - there's a TON of great stuff in the archives. Spend a few dozen hours reading through them and you'll know more than 99% of the guys who start on a venture like this. As far as getting scammed, it's far rarer than people fret about if you're looking in China or Thailand. Just remember rule 1 about international internet dating and relationships. Never send money to someone you haven't met in-person. As far as green card whores go. That, too is very rare. Mind you when guys acting the big shot, flashing money, buying things, bring cute young wives here and the wives find out their lives are work, beer and football here, nothing like they were putting on over there, and end up breaking up, the guys always scream "green card shark." Take your time, enjoy the ride, and be honest with yourself and your prospects and you'll do just fine.

Well TFA why do you limit yourself to Thais and Chinese?  I married a Filipina and I think the reasons for choosing a Filipino are strong.

1) The Republic of the Philippines is the 3rd largest English speaking country in the world.  There are always conflicts in these relationships and having a similar language background really helps.  Even with that misunderstandings abound.

2) Although socialism seems to be the primary politics in all the countries of the world, the R.P. is similar to ours - but still pretty authoritarian/socialist.

3) Unless you go looking in the main large cities and old military bases, chances of finding a virgin are very good and I think that means a lot both morally and what kind of future it supports in family values and religion.  Not saying you won't find virgins in other countries but just my observances show strong support for that in the R.P.  (I know this sounds bad but the smart girls tend to give it up the quickest?)

4) Most are Christian (90+% are Catholic).

5) America is well liked thanks to MacArthur.  Chances are you will be welcomed most anywhere you got there and Filipinos generally want to come to and be Americans.

6) not sure about others but the last two guys I knew finding spouses in China had a few problems getting approved and another who adopted a daughter spent near three years getting that approved.  Those long separations once a decision is made bothers me.

7) Finding a Filipina is generally pretty easy.  Honestly you need only ask most any Filipina you know of here in America.  Chat rooms used to be one of the best places but I'm not sure they even exist anymore.  Still remember most people lie in chat rooms.

I know I have said ask for introductions and I do know a few but the last time I tried to introduce a guy but I found out he had bad intentions after I introduced him to three ladies they already started corresponding. He basically asked just to see how pissed off he could make me.  Luckily he fell off a 20' ladder and broke his back or I'd to hurt him.   He is much better off that I would have left him.

Costs about $20 a month: www.cherryblossoms.com

When I was a member there almost four years ago, I communicated (mostly via their private chat feature) with women from Thailand, China, Peru, Colombia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and the Ukraine.

Cold feet and a high regard for the unbound life snuffed out every opportunity, though.

Some of the ladies were gorgeous. Many were just damn pleasant. So it was worth it in the end to learn that there still exists a few pockets in the world were true women await their prince.

Hey Tim!

Would you and Wendy like to get together for Dinner/Lunch?  We live pretty close.  I'm off Richie and Allen Genoa.

Hi Art. I will ask her. Congrats on the new additions to your family, btw.  ;)
PM me if you need help or want more info about China-related issues.
