How does this effect petitions filed between today and the effective date? I would like to file before July 30th and the ridiculous fee increase, but I haven't completed the paperwork yet.

From what I have read, there will be no noticable difference for filing times.  VSC has always had a faster service time.  Now, with all the additional states being sent to Vermont, it should put them in the 90 - 100 day range just like the others.

I mailed my 129F to the TSC in May and it was immediately sent to California.  Not sure if this is standard practice, but there is tons of information on visajourney on this subject.

If you are already filed, there will be no change in the status of your petition and processing will continue as "usual."

The transfer of cases from TSC to CSC has been going on for several months to allow for use of TSC personnel in other more pressing projects.

Oh for the the days when VSC took 5 days and CSC took 10 days. Gone, but not forgotten. . . . .

Thanks, Jeff! Since I got back from Bogota I haven't had time to do a trip report yet as I had to jump right back into the fire at work. This weekend, I will try and get as much of the paperwork done as I can, but as soon as I am able, I will post a report of the trip. We known each other for two years this month and she knew when I was coming this time around that a ring would be somewhere in the picture. She was hunting for it and dropping hints for about 3 days until she gave up and that's when I proposed. Before that, I was acting like I didn't know what she was going on about!  :D

CONGRATS SOLTERO!!!

CONGRATS SOLTERO!!!

Your one of the best and you deserve it!!!!

Regarding the "ridiculous fee increases"....I understand!!

I have to file I 751 for my wife in a few months to remove her conditional status on her green card...the fee for this form is going from $220 to $545!!!

Unbelieveable!!!!

Considering your just starting this process ( 129F, then the 485 then the I 751)  touching your toes  will be a little more painful for you.

But I know she is worth it. My wife has been here two years now and she is the best thing that ever happen to me.

Again....congrats!!!!

Another interesting item regarding K visas has been the fact that all K-3 petitions which are filed with the National Benefits Center in Missouri are now being forwarded to the California Service Center for processing. It appears that the NBC has moved on to other matters.

Thanks, Guys! I didn't mean to hijack William's informative thread with my good news, but it's good to know I have some folks rooting for me!

KB, Thanks, and yes, the Soltero mantel with have to be hung up! I have ad fun with it but now that the right girl has come along, I don't mind!

Chris F, bending over is probably the best analogy possible. I can't believe how high they are jacking up the fees, but you are right, she's worth it! Thanks, for the kind words and the congrats!

Dan, I truly appreciate it! Thanks!

Just a note on William’s post on filing K-1 petitions:

In addition to the new mailing instructions for K-1 petitions, there are also new mailing addresses for Forms I-129-F for K-3, I-131, I-765, and I-485, among others, also effective 30 July. Check here to see if these apply to your case.

http://www.uscis.gov/files/pressrelease/UpdateDirectFiling062107.pdf

Also, you don’t have to wait until July 30 to use the new addresses. You can start using them now. Might save you a few days if they don’t have to transfer your petition?

Good idea. All the K-3s are being transferred now and it usually takes them a week or two to do so. May as well send it to where it needs to be right away.
