The "oomfoofoo" Phenomenon
« on: May 14, 2007, 01:34:03 AM »
Hello Fellas,
Long time lurker, first time poster...I have a question regarding this phenomenon.  For those of us that grew up in the 80's and remember Eddie Murphie's performance "Raw", remembers a part of that routine where he talks about going outside the US (Africa) to find a wife (named oomfoofoo) and bring her back to the US, only to find his woman overly-influenced by her American Friends, thereby becoming Americanized, divorcing him and getting HALF his stuff!
I would like to know from the experienced guys on this forum, has this happened to your lady?  How do you know that your Colombian lady won't become so americanized thus transforming into that which you tried to avoid in the first place.
Has anyone in here ever had their Colombiana transform into an "oomfoofoo"
   Any feedback would be appreciated.

-Derek

My wife was 42 when I married her so it was unlikely that she was going to change. Four years later she is still the exact same woman. Of course staying the exact same can have a few drawbacks like not learning English.

My wife was 34 when we married and she's been here a little more than 10 years now.  She's definitely not Americanized.  This may be one of those "Can't have your cake and eat it too" things though.  As Utopia Cowboy pointed out, not becoming Americanized may mean not speaking English (well).

My wife was 36 when we got married and she's now been here 21 years. She looks down her nose at angry feminists, and entitlement demanding AW, as much or more than I do. No changes here.
