Filed my I-129F petiton for K-1 visa
« on: May 10, 2007, 10:07:52 AM »
Just wanted to update everyone... I filed for the I-129F petition for my novias K-1 visa today.  I will be using the Texas Service Center as well as the local office located in Jacksonville, Florida.  It was pretty simple to put the information together using visajourney.com.  Now comes the waiting.......

I will post the timeframe it takes to complete the process.  Thanks to everyone who helped me complete the packet.

Your case will be transferred to California next week, methinks.

Bundy... I am the brand new member of this site (just registered today) and it's quite useful for folks like me who is looking to find someone special in latin america. I appreciate you sharing your experience of your I-129 and K-1 visa process. On a side, can you let us know how and where did you meet your lovely fiance? I would be very eager to know the story and if you have already posted it earlier, can you point me to that thread... Gracias!

Welcome josh!  Look under the trip report section detailing my two trips to Colombia and if you look thru the archives, you will find many posts outlining my experiences in Colombia.

The waiting is the hardest part, it seems to take forever but it will come sooner or later. Do you plan on coming with her to Bogota for the interview? My wife told me that the embassy was like a 3 ring circus when she was there. Take a hint when your girl gets checked by the docs in Bogota tell her to schedule the female doc because the male one ( cannot tell you the name it has been alittle while) is questionable. Some girls my wife knew complained because the doc made them strip naked for the physical while the female doc does not. I wonder why??

Thanks Bundy.. your notes on Cali trips are very nice. I got a chance to get a feeling about that city without visiting. I had heard so many different stories and the truth seems to be somewhere in the middle. I have just started my search in finding my special one and all these experiences are indeed very valuable. On a side note, on your trip report, you have mentioned that you had been writing to your novia for about 6 months. Did you meet her through any agency, online site or through a friend? I want to start off with some recommendation. Thanks for all your useful postings...

Try this: www.caliescali.com ...it has a bunch of stuff about Cali, some history, some current, things/places to do (clubs, restaurants, events, who's playing at which venue...stuff like that) and it also has a free 'looking to meet people' section. For what it's worth, that's where I met my wife. Downside? You'd better be pretty good in Spanish to navigate it.

For what the required medical is, I wonder about that requirement by the male doctor for th epatient to strip. Maybe he wants to instruct her on breast exam techniques. . . . .

I was away for the past few days working on all this paper work. I had like zero time to read any posts, and I am now catching up. I wanted to say that I hope it all goes well for you, and you post your general experiences on the visa process as well.

I finally got my I-130 out last night. I am glad that is off my desk for the time being. I spent hours on that little packet with all the small details.
