Most of these words are familiar to me except my wife uses la loma for hill and el llano for plain.

I find that they tend to shorten WHAT COUNTRY ARE YOU FROM  and just say

"DONDE ERES "

As far as to MA question about why he cannto understand why men do not come to CTG to find a wife i think theyre are a few reasons. # 1, other then a bleak econonic situation, why would they want to leave a place most people in the world would kill to vist and/or live. # 2, CTG has a bad reputation for being a HO House and so thus many guys shy away from there thinking that the agency girls are MOONLIGHTING in another industry. I think also that the ladies in cartagena tendo to not be very personable, a little dry in the humor compared to barranquilla or the interior cities.

May not be any truth at aqll here, just my theory

i was thinking the same...also interesting to note how many words we use here in the USA like Sierra

occasionally i run into non-English speakers here on the border although it is mostly bilingual. Last night a guy asked me to start his car while he was fixing his battery. He used the word ÁNDELE...where in Cali you would here dale
