Our plan is to apply for the K-1 FIRST, have her come here and have a small private wedding (Beach Front, no family or friends, just the two of us and a minister), file for the extension, and then returning to Cali for the traditional church wedding and huge after-party.

Bundy, careful how you handle the k1/church wedding. As far as immigration (and your interview) is concerned, you are filing the K1 petition and getting married in the USA. Period!! Your novia or you should not make any mention of anything more than returning to colombia later to throw a party for her family if that. Otherwise, talk to Sean on how to throw a fake wedding...lol.

Papi, there is no reason why he can't go back after the stateside marriage and have a church wedding in Colombia. Immigration will not be concerned with what happens after they are legally married in the U.S., only that she is single and free to marry when she first enters on the K-1 visa.

She should however file for Advance Parole or wait until after Adjustment of Status before she returns to Colombia.

One or the other is mandatory before she leaves the U.S. If she leaves the country without one of these she will not be allowed back in. The K1 is Single Entry" visa only!

I just got in from Cartagena. I remember you said your girl really wanted to go there.
I want to add, that you should put your radar on San Andres as well. If she likes the thought of Cartagena,  she would probably be blown away with SA. I myself, really like Cartagena and SA is totally better!
