Well, since Cali might be overfished, here is your chance to name the best places in the world to find a wife. Below are your choices. Rate the best city and why from the following 10 choices:

Manila
Bangkok
Kiev
Bogota
Cali
Medellin
Barranquilla
Cartagena
Lima
Reykavik

Special credit given for also naming the worst place (off the list accepted)

PS. regarding the fins, they also eat dog in some parts

I take exception that Ecuador and in specifc, Quito was not listed as there are some really beautiful women there including my wife and they are wonderful people as far as a culture and good feelings, so i am going to add Ecuador as my vote even if you do not.

when i was in colombia the last few times it was a fashion show. one beauty after the other. Very different than the Southern Texas Tubbies. I find it hard to believe Ecuador can hold a candle to it but if you say so. You have been around as much or more than me

Ecuador (Quito at least) is a fascinating country, and would be a great place to raise a family.  Infrastructure is superior to anywhere in Colombia, costs are low, the place is clean, and there are hardly any street sellers.  It appears to be a LOT more organized.  Nature is beautiful and there are a lot of good daytrips available.  It also appears to be a lot safer.  The city is prettier than anywhere in Colombia, except maybe for Cartagena.

However, in terms of venues to party, fashion and especially appearance of women it does not even come close.  IMHO.  KB's wife is beautiful, but from what I have seen with my eyes, she is definitely an exception.  Ecuador is a lot slower, more conservative and low-key.

Having said that, Ecuador does not require visas for colombians, so I would definitely suggest anyone who wants to visit with their gf to take her there instead of Panama or San Andres.  It is a profoundly fascinating country.

i dont doubt that Ecuador is a profoundly fascinating country. However, there are many wonderful things to share and explore with your novia in both Panama and San Andres

Lubbock and Amarillo are in Texas.  If that's too far for you, you could drive her to Laredo I guess.

so now you are disparaging Texas? What, not enough culture in the lone star state? Houston I will let you know happens to be among the nations' largest cities and offers a wide variety of museums, theater, shopping, food and not to mention hundreds if not thousands of strip clubs  ;D

KB,

I basically agreed with you that Ecuador is better than Panama to visit as a destination.

P-y

I am not disparaging Texas.  I lived half of my life there in Houston, and yes Houston is a very nice place to live.  I was questioning your priorities for travel and suggesting that Ecuador is far superior to - for instance - San Andres.

Let's be honest El Ruso, Houston is only somewhat nice a few months a year. The summers there are like living on the sun. If your're in Houston, get out before it's just a glowing ember. Other than the extreme heat in the summers, it's a great city.

Bring your NASA, teflon covered jump suit!!!!

The problem is not even heat per se, but the humidity.  And at night it does not really get breezy either.  Climate sucks, but in many other ways it is a great place.  I do like Miami better ;)

Those cities are in Texas but not in South Texas. My wife loves Texas and for a Colombiana who only speaks Spanish, I can't imagine a better place.

As for the humidity, Houston is very humid but that drops off as you go further west.

When you take her to Lubbock don't forget to take her to see Prairie Dog Town. Got to be up there in the top 200,000,000 Wonders of the World!  ::)
