Yeah, I read that article earlier.  I was wondering why my novia hasn't emailed me today.

I called my apt. Bogota and I was told the electricity was out from 9:00 am until 11:30 am...but as of now, Cali still has no electricity...

Lots of rumors going around in Cali, that the FARC bombed the main power stations in Colombia...Now the rumor is that the water supply has been poisoned, so many aren't drinking the tap water... ::)

Wow, thanks for the heads up! I'll try to get a hold of my wife in Barranquilla for an update.

Update: 3:30PM PST

Apparently Barranquilla was down for the count this morning as well. Both the electricity and water were out this morning (I don't know if this was because of the water rumors. More than likely it was because the municipal pumps run on juice). Looks like things are back to normal.

Friends in Bogota say the same thing, that it lasted for about 3 hours. The news says they were implementing a new system for the country that overloaded and caused the blackout. At least that's the official story (from a friend in Bogota).

I'm currently in Medellin, power went out this morning at approx 10:30am and it came back on at 1:00pm, at first we thought the power outage was only Medellin, however, the news states here that the power failure started in Bogota and spread to the entire country. From what I have heard, there are still parts of Colombia without power. Cell phone service is working in Medellin currently.
