That's actually the plan this coming July. We are taking a trip together to Bogota and it's time for her to graduate from amiga to novia. I decided after many close calls (and one major disaster) prior to meeting her to follow the path laid out by Hoda and Slojas...the slow and steady. Fortunately, she had a prior commitment which forced the situation regardless of how antsy we have gotten from time to time to pull the trigger. We met around the end of her first year in college, and so we knew going in that as she wants to finish what she started, we had three years to wait. A little over one year to go, so it's time to pop the question and at about 9 months out, to send in the paperwork to get the process started.

As it stands, we know each other pretty well by now and how we each think. She is a great girl and will be a great wife. She is already my best friend.

Sol, i know you been through the visa process but a reminder to get some stuff done while you are there:

G325A- have her sign all 4 copies of her bio. You cannot save this file but can print the completed form to an image file

passport photos - they have changed the requirements in terms of size. check visa journey. Foto Japan knows what they are doing and cheap. Stay away from Japan Color - they are idiots. Ask for the visa (not passport) photos

Fiance letter of intent- have her sign it

proof of relationship- obviously save the tickets, hotel and take pics together.

i just sent the petition earlier today to the texas service center via fed ex

Thanks for the suggestion, JK...I wanted to go to San Andres, and I was all ready for a moonlit walk on the beach with candles and champagne, but she nixed San Andres stating it was too hot during June or July and the best time to go to the island would be earlier or later in the year. She went to Bogota around the end of last year for some international health exposition and fell in love with the city and the weather and wants to go back. If you, or anyone else has any more suggestions about where to go or what to see, they would be much appreciated.

Thanks Papi...

For the G325A, I get one copy filled out, signed  and then scan it so I can print out as many as I need while changing the numbers at the bottom.

Passport photos are now frontal instead of 3/4, and the last time I did it with my digital camera in front of a white fridge and then crop it and adjusted the dimensions for the correct size.

Fiance letter of intent - I got married the last time and didn't know about this one...I will have her sign it and scan it.

Proof of the relationship- lol...We have dated pics going back 2 years and I have been saving my phone bills. She knows more about me than my own family, and my family is pretty close :) Thanks for the advice and good luck with your paperwork!

The form does auto fill all 4 copies

Foto Japan is 7000 pesos and they know what they are doing. The new size is larger

When I went though this a few years ago I called and asked them specifically about this. They told me flat out that a fax was not acceptable. They needed the original from her hand written with her signature on it. Now this could be typical misinformation from USCIS but I went ahead and had her write it out and send it to me. She even did it three times so I could have original copies if needed.

Don't know if it really make a difference but just as an FYI.

Along these lines, I can't figure out why visa journey makes no mention of sending Form 230. I think it is because it is sent to the novia but i would think it would be better to complete on our end and send it to her along with the other papers.
