For some reason I just don't have the enthusiasm about posting a trip report like I did as a newbie, but I just got back from Cartagena 2 days ago, and I thought I would post a little news...

I went to meet a girl from latinamerican cupid that became my number 1 choice a couple of months ago. I'm 39. She is a 30 year old paisa, now a widow, that is/was living with her husband in Cartagena. She lost him 2 years ago. We are going to take things slow, but serious. I'm going to head back again next month and as of right now, I am off the market.

I totally dig that city. If for some reason things don't work out, Cartagena is my official stomping grounds. Talk about a built-in back up plan; that place is great, and it just works for me.

Later, I'll probably want to check out some more of the coast and the islands. Right now, I am just thinking about this. I had a really good trip. If I even try to compare this with my past experiences, her and this trip are in a league of their own. It went really well.

Thanks Guys! Here's another quick picture.

Vdude, you paid your dues. Glad to see it worked out for you. She is really pretty. The coast is a lot different than Cali, bog, and mde but looks like you found happiness in ctg. good luck

She is a very attractive woman. You've done very well for yourself. As you may discover, a widow makes an excellent wife. It's almost as though they value the second chance that they've been given for love and do everything they can to make the relationship a special one.

Good work Valleydude.  My novia says if we ever got married, she wants to honeymoon in Cartagena.  She says it is a beautiful city with tons of romance to be had. It is has been her dream to go there since a child.  Who knows, I may end up there one day as a married man!   ;D

Congrats!

Thanks Guys!

I imagine part/most of this has to do with being a widow... I have noticed that she doesn't play any games and she really does seem to value the relationship more than I have ever experienced in the past. We are also able to talk and find resolutions before anything ever escalates. I find myself wondering if she is real after these situations with her. She's a really neat girl.

I have not met the immediate family yet, only because they do not live in Cartagena. Her mother called many times when we were together, and she does have her best friend/adopted family in Cartagena which I did meet and hangout with one night. They seem to have taken her under their wing which is kind of nice. She also has no problems telling them or mom that I am her novio. I got nothing but green flags. It was really nice.

As far as communication, I am thinking the habit has started where I will be the one speaking Spanish, but I am ok with it. We didn't seem to have any problems with communication. What was normally a difficult moment in the past was a little different with her. She was smart enough and mature enough to know we just had to be patient and use our resources in those moments. She wants to learn English too, and started to practive with me, so I think we will be ok.

I'd post some pictures to give you a better idea of Cartagena Bundy, but I took some shots from the cab but they wouldn't paint a good picture for a honeymoon, but I can see where Cartagena would be a good honeymoon for these girls.

Bundy when you mention Cartagena for a honeymoon it just makes me think: You gotta love these girls. Where else can you fulfill a girl's dream for just a couple of bucks? My whole trip of 5 days with everything ran me under $1,500. That was with Air, hotel, many cabs, food, movies etc... I know a honey moon isn't about the money, but I can't help to think of all these American couples blowing their life savings on the wedding alone. I'd definitely do a Cartagena honeymoon if that is what my girl wanted.

I used to wonder the same thing about my wife and after four years of marriage I can tell you that, yes, it's real. I think having a spouse die changes them in a profound and positive way.

My thoughts exactly Valleydude!  I figure if I get married in Cali and honeymoon in Cartagena, my total expenses, including airfare, hotels, etc wouldn't be more than $3000 to $4000 dollars!  That would be one hell of a wedding and a weeks worth of honeymoon!  (Open bar and all PL members invited)  Where else can you get all that for so little.

On top of that, I would make my novias childhood dream come true!    ;D

I LOVE COLOMBIA!!!!

This reminds me of a story. I was writing and talking with a girl down south that was a news reporter. She enjoyed telling me how important she was, and how she was like a celebrity. She really got off on this and I was supposed to be impressed. Anyway; after doing the web cam/pictures thing, her family began saying that I looked like "the guy in the movies" and it kind of burst her bubble. I thought it was funny.

Thanks guys for all the good words!
I'm heading down again next month.
