Can I check status of K1 visa online?

Just wondering if anyone knows if I can check the status of my application online. I remember when I was applying for my passport I was able to see what step it was at... Just curious, thanks guys....

on the left hand side you will see a link for "case status and online processing times" click that and you will then have two options.  1.  If you have a reciept number..you can check the status.  2. if you've sent it in, but haven't heard anything you can check and see where your service center is at in terms of processing times for
K1's depending on when you sent it in.

It will be self explanitory for you.

Once it's sent to the country where your fiance is...that would be a different website.  You didn't specify where your at in the process.

I got back from my trip on January 24th I had my papers sent in during the first few days of being back. So I'm in the begining process. Thanks.

For those of you that have went through the K1 process what happens next? I sent my papers in about a month ago, umm Do I get something sent back to me or is she notified first?. Still dont know in what order things will happen. Somone told about a month after I send in my first papers that I'd be getting papers sent back to me to sign? What are these papers if thats true? thanks, ya ya doing the whole hurry up and sick of waiting thing ha ha....

For me, I wasn't married....I filed a K1.   Here's my timeline based on my paperwork in front of me.   

I sent in the paperwork--> They sent me a paper saying they recieved it.  I think I sent mine in April 15 and they sent me a "receipt Notice" date April 27.

Next, They sent me a paper saying I was approved.  Dated Aug 16 (about 4 months)

Next, They sent me a paper saying that it was going to Bogota.  Dated Sept. 5

Next, Bogota sent me a paper saying that Bogota is processing it and they are sending her the famous "packet 3".  Dated Sept.12

Next, after she sends the Embassy the two pieces of paper, they schedule her an appointment at the Embassy and tell her when it is.  Dated Oct.25   (But I recieved it late and so did she)

Appointment at the Embassy was Nov.29

Mine took 7 months and a half months, but that was before they made changes with the regional offices and stuff.
I'm sure you will get very conflicting opinions on how long it takes,  the truth is....no one knows, mine took 7 months while others have gotten their's done quicker or it took longer. 

Your experince should be about the same...until it goes to the different country.  Mine went to Colombia so the time frame may be different.

Did they cash your check yet? If yes, then check the date. 30 days is a little long to not have a receipt notice back.

Should I call them or should I email them, I sent my papers to the Nebraska service center. Looking up my money order now to see if its been cashed.

Hittin dead ends everywhere I go. I used a postal money order and I cant find anything on their site that allows me to find out if its been processed or cashed all I fond is a pay us 3 dollars and we'll refund it for you? Then I go to USCIS link above in this thread and I find nothing that directly lets me Contact the Nebraska Service center although at both site I did send an email to the Contact us which usually goes no further than the webmaster... I'll dig through my papers tomorrow and see if theres a telephone number... its 1:18am time for bed ha ha...

You should have received a Notice of Action (NOA) by now acknowledging receipt of your petition, by either Nebraska or possibly California Service Center. The NOA is printed on official looking paper and has Form I-797 printed at the bottom. There will be a Receipt Number printed near the top. They are supposed to send that to you within a few days of receipt, mailed to your address that you used on the petition form, but definitely within 30 days.

One of the first things they do when they receive your package is to cash the payment check. If you can get a copy of the money order, see if there is a receipt number on the back. If so, you can use that to track your petition. But for a postal money order it may take you months to request a copy. Ask you local postmaster.

Did you mail your petition with a Return Receipt to show proof of delivery? Did you keep a complete photocopy of your petition package just in case it gets lost in the mail?

You won’t get any papers back to sign unless you omitted some required document or they need further evidence or something, but that is usually rare. Your fiancée will not receive anything until the embassy overseas gets the petition and then they will send her some forms and instructions by mail to the address you put on your petition.

When your petition is approved, the Service Center will notify you by mailing another NOA on the same Form I-797. They will then forward your approved petition to the National Visa Center (NVC) for security checks. The NVC normally completes the checks within a week or two and then they will send the petition to the embassy in her country for further processing. The embassy will not contact you, but will deal solely with your fiancée for the rest of the process until her visa is approved.

It is almost impossible to contact the CIS Service Center directly to find out if they received your petition or what the status is. You need the Receipt Number to track it on line or by phone. You could try calling the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283, but they probably won’t be of much help. Ask them for the FAX number to send a follow-up to the Service Center, which is usually the best way to contact them. From my experience, you will probably get the Approval Notice before you are able to contact anyone that can help you with the missing Receipt Notice. I would figure on about 3-4 months or so for CIS approval.

If you do receive any NOA’s, make copies and keep the original in a safe place because you may need it later.

The only copys I have I made and sent to her in vietnam just in case on her end they needed to see something, Nebraska has all my original everything and I cant find a phone number or email address to contact them, now I'm going crazy...

Checking the date on the postal money order I sent it out January 31st, so not quite a month yet. Searching for a phone number again.

I just got off the phone with my friend.  I remember him telling me that he had a similar situation to yours....a long time before he heard anything.  Just to let you know, in his case when he filed the I-129F...he said it took roughly 7 weeks before he even got his reciept notice from them saying they recieved it.  Hang in there dude, some times they are slow. 
When you send anymore stuff in, it wouldn't hurt to pay to get a "confirmation of delivery" slip or something where you can track it online to see if the intended party recieved it.  Never hurts to be overly careful with mailing stuff.

Also, If i were you, I'd make a copy of everything you send and recieve concerning the visa...for yourself.  I would always make 3 copies, one for me, one to send in and one for her (before her interview).

The only phone number you can call for more info is 1-800-375-5283 and like I said, they probably won't be of much help at this point.

I know it is too late now, but for the benefit of others, ALWAYS make copies of EVERYTHING before you mail it in. The post office has been known to lose mail... 

And NEVER send in originals of personal documents (birth certs, marriage certs, divorce decrees, passports, etc.) unless they specifically ask for originals later. The CIS will not return your original documents to you and they actually prefer photocopies.

At this point, I would just wait for a while and see what happens. After a few more weeks with no response, you can ask the post office for a copy of that canceled money order, but it won’t be fast.

ha ha Ok I'm breathing again, I just got off the phone with the USCIS people, thanks Ray for the number I found it about 30 mins before you posted it. But they have indeed recieved my package, it started processing on Febuary 6th the recipt was sent out on the 7th and a reason I might not have got it she said is the USPS is real carful with Immigration mail. And right now my house is on the market so I have been using my parents address (in the same town) as the place for my mail to be sent as my house could sell this afternoon if the right people walked in. At any rate, she asked me if the post office knew my name was on their mailing box. I said no, she said the post office might be holding it, so today I get to go put my name on their box, she was able to give me my online number so I can check case status and alls well... Phewwww.... ha ha...
