Need a place to stay!
« on: January 29, 2007, 08:20:32 AM »
Hello all.  I know I should read the archives to answer this question, but does anyone have any suggestions on places to stay in Cali?  Something close to Chipechape (sp) mall.  I want to spend roughly $40.00 per night.  It has to be clean, safe, and gringo friendly.

I received and email today from my friend that I had plans to stay with stating that I cannot stay with him.  I will be in Cali in three weeks and am scrambling to find something!  I will try Calicharm (my original choice) but I am not sure if they have anything available.

Any help will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Wow....no replies!   ???  Oh well, I think I will just settle for Caliplaza.  A little more than I wanted to spend, but I don't have much of a choice.

Aparta Hotel Plaza Norte is a new hotel about a fifteen minute walk from Chipichape. Tel:6650024. Less than $40.00 a night.

No recomendations, but if you are going to stay 3 weeks you should get a nice hotel at $40 a day.

Whatever the daily rate is, aim to half it for a 3 week stay, with a cash payment, not credit card as there are hefty commisons for the hotels to pay on credit cards.

It will be unlikely that you have all the pesos on you, but tell them that you will be changing money shortly and you don't want to pay all the money up front, just in case the room is nice, but there is a lot of noise etc.

I stayed in Cali nearly 3 years ago for 2.5 weeks and got a nice 1 bedroom Suite in a nice hotel for 60,000 pesos a day, plus breakfast, the daily rate then was 125,000 pesos.

You won't be able to do this via the web, but when you are stood there in front of them it should be easy as long as the hotels are not full, due to some event going on, which they aren't most of the year in Cali.

if calicharm does not have space then pay the extra and go with cali plaza. it is a nice place and yu will have the camaraderie of other gringos.

the del rio and cora apartments are very good options but they don't speak a lick of English and really more for the guy who has a novia in Cali or is familiar with the city
Red Bull may give you wings, but if Flakes could fly - BAQ is in fact an airport
