Alernate meeting location?
« on: August 28, 2006, 05:22:59 AM »
Does anyone have alternate meeting locations to meet your Filipina fiance while you are waiting on paperwork?  Due to my lack of vacation to travel to the Philippines and she already had a passport, we thought about a couple of days in Mexico.  Anyone done this or have other ideas?  Thanks in advance.

It is hard for a Filipina to get a visitor's visa to Mexico..I mean as difficult as getting one for the USA..so forget about it...But she can go to some asian countries with no visa just her passport ex...Hongkong, Bangkok etc.

Goodluck to you on your paperworks.

Hi Mark,

I have heard numerous guys over the years looking for a way to have their wives or fiancées travel to Mexico or Canada as a tourist while waiting for visa processing, but I can’t remember anyone following through with their plan.

Like Tess mentioned, it isn’t that easy for a Filipino to get a tourist visa to Mexico. Is she employed? Can she show financial solvency? Does she have an international credit card? Bank account with sufficient funds? She can check with the Mexican Embassy in Manila for visa requirements, but the Mexican officials already have a good idea why a single Filipina would want to travel to a border city in Mexico for a “vacation”.

Depending on the policies of your employer, you may not need vacation time on the books. Many will let you, or even encourage you to, take a leave of absence or unpaid leave, especially if work is slow.

One recommendation I would have is to make sure you can take at least 2-3 weeks off when your fiancée arrives in the States if at all possible. You don’t want to run off to work and leave her alone during the day right after she gets here, if you can avoid it.

Did you file a fiancée petition? How long have you been waiting?
