AOS INTERVIEW
« on: September 13, 2012, 10:14:01 PM »
Hi guys, my Colombiana wife and I just got our interview notice for AOS here in San Diego.. My wife is taking English classes but has a long way to go in understanding English. The notice recommends a translator as they will interview her in English. Do we need a translator? Anybody have experience with this? thanks

I think you will need a translator.  Our interviewer was an Asian man and he did not know any Spanish.  My wife understood English and I was also able to assist withany misunderstandings if there were any.

I wouldn't worry about it.

If your interview is at the immigration office in Chula Vista, almost everyone in there is a Spanish speaker.

If her AOS petition is approved at the interview, make sure they place an I-551 stamp in her passport.

The stamp will act as her Green Card until the actual card arrives in the mail, which could take several months.
