Benjio, you get a friendly pass because you can hold a decent conversation... let's have that friendly conversation in a well ventilated area  ;D

IV I know you are right but I still struggle slightly.
Women sometimes tell me to wear more form fitting clothes. I.e. shirts that are shaped to highlight that I am slim. I just feel more comfortable in very loose shirts. I try to follow womens' advice to have some that hug my body a little closer. Often I fail and get things that are one size too big because I like that loose feeling. Perhaps I should invest in a mirror so I visualise what women are telling me. I'm sure they are right. They always know best about these things.

Great Advice... This really helps for when I got shopping for my clothing... Very good points!!!

When I 1st went to Barranquilla I had shorts real nice ones in my bags but my girl told me no way you have to wear long pants when you go out. I thought she was full of it because it was so freaking hot out there but she was 100% right because once we hit the mall the tourist or men there visiting their girls stuck out like a sore thumb. When you stick out like a sore thumb you are sitting yourself up to get robbed and are easy for a scam!

I always get a good laugh from these threads regarding shorts. They appear on so many travel forums, with so many different perspectives. From the guy who says never wear shorts, they make you stand out. This person is usually the least traveled of the group or a very short term expat. In Asia or Latin America, being 6' + and caucasion makes you stand out, not your shorts. Then there is the guy who says he will wear what is comfortable. Not completely the wrong answer, but you will probably not impress many ladies that way.Anywhere in the world. So take it from someone that has crisscrossed quite a bit of the world and lived/worked in several countries. Longer length shorts (knee length or better) are actually somewhat fashionable now. Mix those in with some Ed Hardy or Element gear and wear with an outdoor activity you will be sharp. Evenings light dress clothes are better. Think Tommy Bahama.

I stand by what I said wearing shorts every where is sitting you up as a target and this is from someone who has spent more than enough time in Colombia to know.

Obviously being over 6 feet tall makes you stand out. Not dressing like the locals makes you look clueless, wherever in the world you go.
