Boastful Gringo on Plane to Cartagena

I went to see my girl in October.  As usual there were a bunch of gringos going down to monger, etc.  One guy was bragging about how he was going down to "see his bitches". 
 
The funny part occurred when I was at the mall with my fiance.  I saw that same guy.  He was walking with a young woman...and carrying her bags for her apparent shopping excursion.  I had to chuckle to myself as that sight sharply contrasted the image he was projecting on the plane.

Hey OG, congrats on the impending arrival of your wife.  I'm sure you must be excited and can't wait to say goodbye to all the skyping!  My wife has been here for 3 months and except for when I'm working, I don't think we've been apart for more than about half hour ... very much in the honeymoon stage still!

I know what you're talking about - I've flown in/out of Cartagena 10 times, and there are invariably a few guys on each trip loudly recounting their conquests to anyone who will listen.  I've seen them in their 20's, 40/50's, and 60/70's ... all the same.  And half the time they are bragging to women ... I don't know what they are thinking and it's embarrassing to be around.

I may have touched on it in some other posts, but the four main issues for her/us have been learning how to do things around the house (this passed after the first couple weeks), frustration with learning English, losing her economic independence, and missing her family (especially this December).

She's happy about 95% of the time though, so things are pretty good.

I've got a thread around somewhere ... will post in more detail in the next couple days ...

People are normally never what they appear to be and even less then what they say they are. I never understood the need to bragg about this or that to strangers on a plane, Its Colombia one probly should have to expect behavior like that, but in the end as you saw the reality far streches the fantasy.
