The Holding Pattern!!!!!!!-do you remember?????

Hello everybody,its been three weeks sense my last confession.LOL. I thought I would stir some old emotions in the vets here and ask do you remember the holding pattern? I like to think of it as the time in between the first meeting and the second. Where most of your time is on the PC. My lady and I communicate via email chats texts and smoke signals. Do you remember how easy it was to confuse your mate with are American slang? I find its really easy to; cause, some serious doubt with some simple phrases we use everyday. I will ad mitt she is a very intelligent young lady with a schedule that is fast paced.. We trust each other and love each other but the demand of just being patient is a killer. Time can be cruel, I feel if we can make the test of time the relationship will be that much stronger. Its kinda like your getting ready to land and your ears are hurting, and DFW is in sight just can't land ...............Been there? ??

Dewey I know exactly what you are talking about when it comes to misunderstandings due to American slang & such.I had 13 months to pile up misunderstandings with my wife but the good news is within a couple of days we were able to talk about all of it & get it all ironed out. much of it was due to cultural differences & it's dam hard to be clear with someone 100% of the time when you are only typing or talking into a phone. once i was there i could then see my wife's facial expressions which helped me gauge what i say to her next. And what to ask her next.

Hell, dude!  That's daily life for us married guys with ESL wives!  You get used to it.  You learn to downshift your English.

Bah.  DFW is just a 3-hour flight away.  The really tough ones are when you've been in the air for 11 hours with a fussy rugrat in tow and are coming in to Narita or Haneda and THEN you get put into a holding pattern out over the Pacific.  That's like when you've gone through the courtship and sent in the paperwork and get a notice that it's all delayed because of some missing info or incomplete or lost form.  If you do not have a deep reservoir of patience, you will not make it through this process.

Cut the girl some slack, I have difficulty understanding you too.  What with your run on sentences and misused words.  ("are" America as opposed to "our" America)
