Hi everyone:

I've been on the forum a few months and don't really remember if I've done this intro before, so here it goes....

I'm 53 year old guy who looks early/mid 40's so I'm told, divorced, no kids looking for a nice, warm caring and loving Colombian woman to go thru the rest of our lives together with. I've been on several tours down to Colombia and over to Russia and had the trip of a lifetime in both instances. I've decided to go this route for several reasons.... First being I just can't get away from the tremendous attraction I have of the fine women of Colombia! No matter where else I look in the world... China, Philippines, Korea, Russia/Ukraine etc, I always seem to gravitate back to Colombia (and Peru!).

I'm a pilot for a major airline in the middle east these days after having retired early from the US airline industry which is in such disarray... but I digress. I say that to mention I have the capability to travel to see some of these women around the world both while on flights and while on off days.

About 18some-odd years ago, I went on a tour to Moscow, met a girl 13 years my junior and got the fiance visa for her. Spent the 90 days together and while loads of fun, it was obvious to both that we weren't going to work out. On the 89th day, I sent her home on Aeroflot. No harm, no foul. Cultural differences and lack of my planning to get her busy with a job to keep her from getting bored, and other things to do contributed to the failure among other things I suppose. But at that time, I wasn't sure if she was the one or not so I hesitated with getting her situated sooner. Make sense?

My US airline had many trips to South America and I ended up meeting a girl from Cali, Colombia who, to this very day, was the best kisser I've ever been with. Whew..... She was supposedly learning english at a school but over months and months, there seemed to be no progression and a few other flags popped up and I waved off.

So, here I am, reading, learning, assessing what all of you have both written and experienced and want to go to South America... both Colombia and Peru for a few weeks come September.
I am just finishing a vacation now that I had intended to go to Odessa and a few others with a large tour company for a 10 day event. Decided I wanted to do it more on my own... and save a few bucks as well. I had thought of heading down to Medellin and Lima but chose a beach vacation for myself instead.

As I'm checking out all the usual suspects of websites I now belong to... Latincupid, Colombiacupid, I'm having a hard time on where to concentrate my efforts because.....

... The women of BOTH Peru and Colombia seem to just "do it" for me physically. So, in the span of about 17 days, I can either concentrate on one city, say Medellin and/or Bogota, or...... try half in Colombia half in Peru. With only two weeks, I'm not so inclined to travel around especially if I meet someone nice in the first city I visit.

I will tell you that I'm seeking a woman probably from the early 30's up who's beyond the clubbing lifestyle for the most part and is down to earth. Children are fine and probably a small plus but not a deal breaker either way. I have no kids and always thought I'd be a good dad someday, but it never happened in my marriage (blessing in disguise).

I've been told that Bogota has more of the ladies I might like from a "professional" standpoint.... a bit more educated in general and more grounded vs the party girl type I"m wanting to avoid. Yet, Medellin woman are so very attractive in almost every website I visit. What to do?

So......what say you all to the small dilemma I face regards to which cities to visit on one shorter two week trip? If I could stay a month, it would be a no brainer to me, but that's not the case.

Welcome Flyboy, thanks for the long intro, I enjoyed reading it and envying your experiences. I find myself wishing I'd been a pilot in my career, it would have helped me satisfy my travel itch.
For what it's worth and in no particular order, here are my thoughts on how you can spend 17 days productively.
1. Your 30 year old and up with or without children is excellent IMHO. You will have thousands of choices in Colombia.
2. If you are sold on Colombia, as I am, then use Colombian Cupid. There are 3x more Colombianas on Colombian Cupid than there are on Latin American Cupid and you won't waste a lot of time getting hits and chat requests from women all over the continent. You know enough already about what you want in a woman so it's easier IMHO to focus on one or two cities and develop your approach there instead of scattering your attention all over Latin America.
3. Yes, I agree that in Cupid it seems that Bogota has a higher population of intelligent, educated, well employed women. But, it's a city of 8,000,000 people so it stands to reason the percentages will be higher. Medellin has only 3,000,000 population, Barranquilla only 1,000,000 etc. But, you only need one woman and you may find the exact one you are looking for in a 25,000 population pueblo in the middle of nowhere like I did.
4. One way to spend your 17 days in Colombia is to do a hop, skip and jump the way Dennis Levy describes in his posts here on the forum. DL has been very successful in visiting many cities and many women here in Colombian. For you it would be easy to meet a woman in each city as you travel around and get a feel for the country and the culture. Chat with them on web cam first to start the relationship then follow up with a 2 or 3 day visit to their city.
5. Another way to do this is go to just one city and meet a bunch of women in a Do It Yourself Introduction Tour without the services of an agency. However, this is hard for a gringo to do because of logistics and because of jealousy. If a woman knows you are in her city, and you are not with her every night then she will know that you are dating other women. It can be very difficult to explain to her that you are testing the waters and sorting out which women you want to get to know better.
6. Another thought is to use a good agency for the first few days then spend the rest of your vacation developing relationships with the women you meet during the tour.

Hey Flyboy, if I could do it all over again, I would be a pilot, joined the air force, I am fascinated with airplanes, my house here is the turn point for airplanes to line up for landing and I love watching them turn.

Hey Flyboy, I always felt that spending one week somewhere was too short a time.Two weeks in one place worked for me because I spent the first week meeting women and the weekend and remaining week narrowing down my choices.If I only had one week I spent the first few days meeting women and the rest of the time narrowing down my choices but it just didn't seem to be enough time.If I were you I would pick a city and spend two weeks there.Just a thought.

you are retired right?.. whats stopping you from living in Colombia for a few months, guys who choose to use online dating sites do so becuase of limited travel and to save time, you my friend have oodles of time

1. go on a extended vacation to Colombia for the following
get to know the people and culture
learn some spanish
meet some women

Its really the best we to get to know the people, if you cant do 2 months stay as long as you can and make alot of vists and trips.

Gang,

I'm retired from my US airline, however I currently fly overseas at a major Middle East airline so I don't quite have the time to spend a few months in Colombia.... although I couldn't agree more it would be the best solution and one which would give a pace that is comfortable in many ways...... getting a lay of the land, getting a feel for the atmosphere of the city you're in, getting to know the girls and their attitudes which I'm guessing would vary slightly from city to city.

I have pretty much narrowed it down to a Medellin base of operations... although I'm really wanting to go to Lima as well. But as you guys are saying... and I have to agree with.... 17 days is just not enough time to narrow the search down.

Thanks for all the kind words and suggestions.... keep 'em coming guys. My brain is trying to be a sponge with all this.

Welcome to the board Flyboy.

My best friend started his latin american adventures several years ago by going to Machu Pichu in Peru, then to Lima a couple times. Once he visited Colombia though, he never went back (not that he doesn't like Peru - he does).

From what I understand, there are some great women there, maybe a little more conservative than Colombianas, and not the same quantity of beautiful women (although there are many).

I lived in Bogota for almost two years.....and I only lived there for three reasons
1. The dating pool was practically infinite
2. I could always teach English lessonw when I wanted to
3. It was easy to find good to great restaurtants and bakeries

Its a hard city in which to travel, the air quality is horrendous, the nights are cold....and my heath broke down. But the women.....God almighty, multitudes of beautiful women!

If flyboy or anyone else is coming to Colombia for two weeks...and is serioulsy lookig for someone, I would recommend one site. If they want to date around without making a committment to find a novia, experence a couple of regions....in 17 days Medellin and Bogota are doable.

you ve got your mind set on Medellin.....so go there.....but if you can speak enough Spanish use cupido or another dating site.....

I personally owuld not spend money on a dating agency in Medellin.
