Dave,

I've used sun showers many times. My parents use them on their boat all the time. They extended the hose on one, hang it from the boom, and pipe it into the bathroom below through a window. My boat doesn't have the proper draining equipment for a similar setup though.

The sun shower is probably my least favorite method, but it does the job. I like to feel some water pressure.

I would sometimes stop on a small key or island to shower, cook, and sometimes sleep...but I didn't have to worry about a huge keel. I had retractable keels (center boards) on my sailboats.

Flight to Taiwan is booked. Leave 11/26 and get back on 12/7. Tickets for a decent flight ended up being about $1070 (1 short stop in Japan, decent departure time).
Wave as you fly by.  We'll cross paths over the Pacific.  We'll be arriving back at LAX on the 26th.

I truly hope you two can NOT see each other wave as you fly by!   :o

Best Wishes on your trips to both of you!   ;)
Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash and I'm delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever.

I am becoming pretty familiar with the international departures area in Narita. That 100 yen computer, the bar with the ridiculously over-priced Sapporo on tap...

Think I'm out of yen though.

The international arrivals in Taipei is deceiving as it has all these signs saying there is free wifi in the lobby but I have never been able to access it.

Good tip for Narita layovers - Narita is home to the best Delta SkyClub which is located in the international departures terminal. The club offers free showers, free computers with internet access, free food and drinks. The club has 2 really kick ass beer dispensing machines - one Sapporo and one Asahi, which you can utilize as much as you want. You can purchase a 1 day SkyClub membership for $50 even if you are not flying on Delta and or not a SkyMiles member. I have a SkyClub membership and always hit the club in Narita while I am there - a nice hot shower and a couple of cold beers after a long flight will do you wonders. $50 may seem to be a little high but try getting something to eat along with a couple of beers for less than that in the Narita airport and you will be doing good.

I have OneWorld Elite status & usually get to use the BA & CX lounges which are awesome. I am also a member of Skyteam's SkyMiles & SkyPass as well as Star's OnePass & KrisFlyer but I have no status on either one of them.

I am thinking of making my next transit in either Narita or Incheon. Hopefully, I will get to use either the JAL or KE lounge.
If we were all forced to wear a warning label, what would yours say?

Sorry, I am digging up an old thread.
I don't know if this is still an issue.
Just wanted to chime in and say that if your girl has a few years under her belt doing software engineering work, she can get work here in the US.  Most entry level jobs want to see a knowledge of the techniques in programming, a sample of some things you've done and the experience of having worked with a group which makes actual work experience a big plus. Does she speak okay English? As long she can understand English and be understood, that's good.
There are also jobs in QA and as systems engineers.
Another option; If she already has a bachelors degree, she can go for a masters degree.
There really isn't such a thing as Chinese programmers being different from programmers here. There are just different skill levels of programmers and some do write bad code or do not use proper techniques.
