In Their Boots

A 30-minute show on PBS...

Second Battle
Wives of servicemembers who face deportation from the U.S.

First case, a young Marine stationed in Okinawa falls in love with an Asian woman.  She comes to America while her B/F deploys to the Sandbox.  Shortly after he deploys, she discovers she's pregnant.  They decide to marry via a proxy marriage, he in Iraq and she in America.  Perfectly legal.

Couple of months later, and he leaves this World.  She delivers a baby Boy, but now she's in big trouble.  Because the marriage was never consummated AFTER MARRIAGE, she's ineligible to stay in America, and is almost certainly going to be deported.

I take a tough stand on illegal immigration, especially living in a Sanctuary State.  These are difficult times for many (most?) communities, and just about everyone gets to feel the pain.

But sometimes, I just feel like...DAMN.

"If the law supposes that,'said Mr Bumble...'the law is a ass, a idiot."

I would definitely agree with you on this one!

Also- my Mom in NC knows a Mexican family who live here in the US. They are great people and very hard workers, and have done a lot of good things for many people there. But... The husband/father's paperwork either isn't complete, or isn't "correct", and the INS is giving him all kinds of grief now. Everyone is helping out with trying to assist him in getting all his t's dotted and i's crossed, but they may be sent back early next year... They're having a very hard time with all the Gov't paperwork and waiting for things to be processed. It seems to be a typical, complicated Gov't process that should be easier to complete for those who are trying to do things the right way!
Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash and I'm delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever.

Good News!  :)

And thanks for the link to Japan Today news! I will be using that quite a bit to learn more about Japan.  ;)
