this seems to be a start of a trend in Medellin that i witnessed on my last trip.  younger girls who would normally get pregnant by local guys for whatever reason, stupid, careless,  feel lonely and need to fill a void by having a child, broken family, need $$$.... whatever reason.....   have learned .... why have a child by a local guy who has no $$$$, but get pregnant by a foreigner and get support and $$$ from him. they also know all they have to do is go to the embassy and say, "senor Tom  Richards   is the father of my child"  and the embassy will do the rest.

cant say much for the men getting the girls pregnant and not using some kind of protection, but seems to be a new thing  in Medellin.


also noticed  a new billboard in the airport in Medellin in the immigration area that says something to the effect of " welcome to  our country tourits, have fun but don't have sex with our children"

I don't think the colombiana could get through the front gate of the US consulate in Bogota let alone get them to do anything about a child that has not been declared a US citizen. Guys in Colombian have to give their permission even for the mother to put the father's name on the birth certificate.

Maybe if the gringo admitted to being the father and had his name on the birth certificate they might take and interest....other than that if they start taking a colombiana's word that the baby has an american father they might find 500 women a day standing outside the consulate once word gets out. jajajaja

Even with that I doubt they would care without a valid paternity test. Even with the test and satisfying all requirements for USC status of the child, I'm not sure what the mother can do. Pretty sure she needs a US court to award child support.

I can see absolutely zero guaranteed benefits, just a better chance that the gringo will do the "right thing" and allow the child their USC birthright(it is the child's birthright if  all the legal criteria is met) and maybe throw some money her way. Sounds like a really bad business plan. All risk. Little, if any, reward.

Still, probably better than some poor Colombiano, but not by much.

do they have paternity actions in Colombia? Here they have to file in the Superior Court with proper jurisdiction. But- intercourse did not occur here. . . .

If you are looking at the garden variety paternity suit, the alleged father will be giving up his DNA or conceding paternity.

I have seen a foreign adoption where the mother tried for child support. However, the children were deported and the adoption was apparently fraudulent ("Dad" didnt read espanol). The battle has moved to Mexico now

and try to get a Colombian Family Court Order of Child Support on you.

If you live in USA, it will be hard (but not impossible) to get the Colombian Order enforced in the state in
which you live.

Any fathers who would run away from responsible are 100% losers, cowards... whatever you can call it.   How would you feel if your father did the same to you  You called him loser, did you?  Now it is your turn!

If you are the father of the child, take responsible for it and work it out - otherwise your loser!  It isn't fair on the woman!  You already took risky by not wearing condoms.  What you cannot afford one?  You can afford to pay for the air fares, for the hotel, for the prostitution fees, but cannot afford to buy condoms?  Your a joker!

Well I can tell you from experience that family court and civil judgements hold no weight in the US and and the same goes for US civil rulings in Colombia.
I know of no colomibiano that pays court ordered child support in Colombia. Just like everything else here....a lot of laws and very little enforcement.

Anyway what does this have to do with some how getting a cita at the US consulate in Bogota to have her baby declared a US citizen so she and some how sue you in the US for child support.jajaja

i stand corrected. looks like its OK for guys to go to foreign countries and get girls pregnant and not have any responsibility what so ever for their actions, pretty sad in my opinion.

but i have seen 3 guys that i know, being told by the mother of the children they want financial support and are willing to go to the embassy to get it.  if it will really happen, no idea.  so far, only 1 guy has said he would help.

THe mother carries the brand of prostitute since that is where mixed race children come from- the union of foreigner and local girl cant come from anywhere else in the eyes of the culture.

The child's place in society is nonexistant due to their lack of pedigree. Schooling and decent employment can be denied.

Some of the guys out there are narcissistic jerks and think in their own minds that they have pure intentions. So they dont use condoms or worry about the and, lo and behold, a baby arrives. Despite their desire or claim to own up to their "responsibilities" to the child, they have ruined the woman's life and the child's life as well. The woman wants to please her fiancee and doesnt put her foot down on the sex issue. No protection-no sex.

It was a huge deal in Thailand a couple generations back. But then, these little mongrels grew up and the Anglo-Thai mix now makes up a large portion of their pool of movie stars, models and entertainers. It is no longer as significant.

Sending a few pesos a month may assuage the guilt feelings of the narcissist, assuming he can get away from his mirror long enough to have those feelings, but the harm that this ambassador has caused can be felt to the next generation.

I can safely say that everything you have written here is almost the exact opposite in Colombia..including the part about the woman wanting you to wear a condom. jajaja.

I dont recall mentioning Colombia. Mainly because my own experiences there left it completely out of my thoughts on the matter.
